The Deadpool figure from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine line (whew, that’s a mouthful) is probably my favorite Marvel figure in the 3 3/4-inch scale from Hasbro. It doesn’t hurt that Deadpool is one of my favorite Marvel characters. He’is a kickass ninja who, in the hands of a talented writer (no, I’m not talking about Daniel Way), would beat you into submission with in-fight banter. The stock figure is a pretty good rendition of him, but given how much I like the character, I couldn’t leave good enough alone.
- Wasn’t a fan of the bulky scabbards, so I removed them and made some of my own. Bastardizing a technique from GrownNerd, I wrapped scotch tape around the swords, toughened it up with super glue, and painted.
- The scabbards are secured together and attached to the harness by super glue and fishing line.
- Glued down the chest piece so the harness no longer rides up – the disk is all you have to glue.
- Touched up the black with sharpie, including adding the black areas on the gloves.
- Painted the buckles and harness pieces with silver.
- Painted the center disk and katana handles with clear red.
- Painted the guns with gun metal.
I’ll probably do something similar when I get my hands on the deluxe version with the BFG.
Thanks for looking!
