The Hasbro Marvel team checks in for the latest round of Q&A.
1. Have the plans for San Diego Comic Con exclusives been firmed up, and when will we see pictures (also see question 5)? Last year’s Hasbro Toy Shop booth was one of the tougher lines at the convention, and it was further impacted by the ticketing system. Any plans to make changes to how it works at the show, and will all items be available for online purchase?
We are still in the planning stages for SDCC so it is too early to discuss specifics. We can tell you that there will be a limited number of all 3 Marvel Exclusives (Invaders 4 Pack, single carded Captain America and Wolverine Mighty Mugg) available online for fans who can’t make it to the show.
2. There’s been a lot of discussion about the articulation on the Marvel Universe and X-Men Origins: Wolverine 3 3/4-inch figures. The MU line features ball-jointed shoulders and the Wolverine line has ball-jointed hips. Going forward, we’d like to see both. Has the design team settled on a consistent set of articulation points, and if so, what’s it going to be?
For these lines there are two design teams that work closely together. The intent is for both of these lines to mesh nicely together and complement one another. However, each team has made some individual choices when it comes articulation, etc.
3. Collectors are really excited for the Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man figures that were announced for the Iron Man line at Toy Fair. What Iron Man series are those planned for, and when are those planned to hit retail? When are we going to see pictures (also see question 5)?
These are currently planned for 4th Qtr. 2009. We haven’t included these pictures this month, but we’ve included a couple others for your viewing pleasure!
4. We know you’re planning to update collectors about Marvel Legends at San Diego. What can you tell us at this point in time? Still planning on an announcement at SDCC? If the line is to resume, what are your thoughts on character selection? We’re still hoping we’re going to see some of the figures that had been previously shown in painted prototype pics, like the FA Storm, Silver Samurai, and Valkyrie – would the plan be to leverage those prototypes, or start from scratch?
We know fans of the 6″ lines are anxious for new news. A nice reveal is still planned for SDCC, but as mentioned previously, we won’t be discussing the actual details until then!
5. Our site is all about pictures (we try not to publish any articles without them) – can you share some pictures of upcoming products that we haven’t seen yet?
Yes, we’ve included a couple of new product images for your enjoyment!
