Visiting the NECA booth last week at San Diego Comic-Con, I was disappointed to not see more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and not until after the show did I find out why. I am not familiar with many of NECA’s licensed video game properties. Sure, I know Street Fighter, but my gaming in my old age is limited to NHL games. Still, there’s lots to appreciate here just from an action figure fan perspective.
Bio Shock – Industrial from TheFwoosh.com really dug these – he hasn’t played the game either.
Gears of War – I have been tempted to get GOW2 since I can do so at a discount, but am not sure any of my online buddies still play the game.
Player Select – Dead Space, Dante’s Inferno, and Army of Two – yeah, complete blank for me.
Street Fighter IV – I was disappointed when SOTA didn’t win the license for SF4. The upside is that NECA’s been able to produce figures on a more regular basis – but I fear that with the tough economic landscape, that the pace at which these figures come out will slow to a crawl.
And here’s pics of Boondock Saints and April O’Neil from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
I’ve never seen the original Boondock Saints movie, but with a sequel due out in November, the property was popular enough to exceed the capacity of a Comic-Con panel. And lonely, lonely April O’Neil – the figure turned out great, although I do miss thigh swivels on her. I hope this isn’t the last of the TMNT line from NECA, because there’s a lot more that I’d like to add to my collection.
