A couple of weeks ago, a company called Icon Heroes announced it had acquired the license for ThunderCats “Stactions,” or static action figures. This weekend they released a sneak peek at its Lion-O staction.

Here’s a sneak peek at our Lion-O Mini Statue! More details coming soon …

In light of Bandai’s recent announcement that they’ve got the global master toy license for ThunderCats, I’m trying to figure out how Icon Heroes snuck in under the radar. While their announcement has made its rounds on the internet toy sites, I haven’t found anything substantive on the company itself, other than its own press release. A search for their parent company, Pacfun LLC, also doesn’t turn anything up. Sure, they’ve got a blog site and a Facebook page, but hey, so do I! 🙂
In any case, if Icon Heroes is for real, their ThunderCats Stactions should appeal to fans of Masters of the Universe Classics and DC Universe Classics, as the sculpts definitely evoke the Four Horsemen. Fans of MOTU will remember that when the Four Horsemen worked with NECA to produce mini-statues for MOTU 200X, those were also called Stactions. We’ll see if we can find out more.
