Last week, we took a look at the Transformers Power-Core Combiners Skyburst and Aerialbots set. In the second of our short series on Power-Core Combiners we look at Searchlight, one of the Commander packs. These commanders come with their own Mini-Con, which adds another level of play to these new generation of Transformers.
The new Mini-Cons have a port on their chest or back that connects them with their Commander figure. This connection can happen in either mode. Once transformed, Searchlight can combine with his Mini-Con, Backwind, to form a gun mode, armor mode, and more.
And the 3rd level of play with these Commander packs is their torso mode. These Commanders can combine with any PCC drones you may have, and then combined with the Mini-Con armor mode, you can get some pretty cool looking combiners. Here, Searchlight is combined with the Aerialbots from the Skyburst pack.
In conclusion, these Transformers may not be for everyone or for all collectors, they lack some articulation and the aesthetic is very movie-verse, but if you like Transformers you can mess with for hours, these are the ones for you.
The figures pictured in this review were provided by Hasbro.
I’m not feeling these new combiners at all but Searchlight looks okay on his own. Is the second head a result of the Aerialbot mode or is his face reversible? The first one looks more accurate to the original Throttlebot version somehow.
Each Commander figure has two heads, usually it is hiding in the chest and flips out.
Ah, that makes sense now. Thanks, Talyn!
