Holy Blackest Night – here’s the DC Universe Classics 17 Star Sapphire Wonder Woman! With the impending arrival of DCUC 17, I thought I’d wet some appetites with pics of the SS Wonder Woman I bought from an eBay seller in China.
By the way, if you’re apprehensive about purchasing from from an overseas seller, I’ve had several transactions with Jimmy’s Toys Master Shop and I’m very impressed with his service. He’s a great eBay seller; good communication, very courteous and trustworthy.
I wasn’t all that excited about the Sapphire Wonder Woman, most of DCUC 17 is a pass for me, but once I got this figure that old Four Horsemen magic kicked in and I ended up liking a figure that I was only looking at for it’s custom fodder potential.
The new body is much better looking than the earlier female bucks and definitely a move in the right direction. I hope the Horsemen plan to incorporate this buck into more of their future female figure designs.
Much better range of motion in the mid-torso pivot!
Even though this was an extremely short lived look for Diana, the Star Sapphire Wonder Woman is a great looking and well made figure and it’s raised my excitement level for my other 2 wants from DCUC 17, Indigo Atom and SC Scarecrow.
Happy hunting!

I think this is going to be the general sentiment from DCUC collectors for both wave 17 & 18!
Nice find and pics!
I’ve bought a few figures from Jimmy’s Master Toy Shop as well, and they are great! Fast shipping too, especially from China.
Great seller, that Jimmy. 😉
But yeah, I got the figure too and reviewed it but was a whole lot less excited about it than when I first saw the reveal pics. I actually like this sculpt a lot less because we lose the ab crunch and the waist swivel. And the cehst pivto doesn’t pivot. Heh.
Oh well, you can’t win ’em all!
“And the chest pivot doesn’t pivot. Heh.”
sounds like you might have gotten a defective one because the chest pivot works great on mine.
wait, I just read Ewan’s review, great pics and nice write up by the way! and I see the reason for your statement about the “pivot” point. you have a misunderstanding about what the term “pivot” means.
pivot – the central point, pin or shaft on which a mechanism turns
both the GLC 2 Star Sapphire and DCUC 17 Sapphire Wonder Woman have the same style chest pivot point, it was made only to turn/pivot and it works correctly in your pics of your SS-WW in your review. it wasn’t made to allow any other type of movement. it isn’t like the same POA in the ML Elektra/Black Widow that allows for a little back arch or forward crunch as well as pivoting. 🙂
Yeah, the first of 3 Star Saphires that my brother and I had to buy to get one that didn’t suffer from DCUC hip freeze desease we totally ripped apart and that ab articulation is designed to turn from side to side or all the way around only. No forward and back motion.
That’s why it sucks….

That does kinda suck.
DCUC has increasingly gone away from useful articulation. Why couldn’t this joint crunch forward and arch back a little as well as turning? Lazy. Cheap. That how these feel when this replaces the ab crunch and waist swivel, the side to side joint in the feet get lost, or the neck can’t move up or down. Or when elbows can’t fold at least 90 degrees.
In this case I’ll let it pass cause I can’t see where you put a waist swivel in there.
Yeeesh! Putting it side by side with the series 4 Wonder Woman shows just how terrible those shoulders were in their first try. It’s why I never got it.
