We covered the Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers 6-inch figures in our last post, but we all know that Hasbro’s bread and butter is in the 3.75-inch scale that they’ve dominated for decades with Star Wars, G.I. JOE, and more recently, Marvel Universe. So it’s no surprise that with two summer tentpole releases with the Avengers and the Amazing Spider-Man coming out in 2012, that Hasbro would have accompanying 3.75-inch lines.
Hagop spoke to some folks in the know:
The 4″ movie figures will be contained in their own lines (one for Spider-Man, and one for Avengers). Each will debut at retail approximately 2 months prior to the respective movie opening. There are about 9-12 Avengers movie figures planned (as always, more are possible if they sell well) including multiple versions of Iron Man, Thor and Cap.
I think Black Widow suffers in these pics from some overly harsh flash. Under normal lighting, she looks a lot less severe. In this scale, I think it will be particularly difficult to capture ScarJo’s likeness, because a lot of it will hinge on the quality of the paint apps. Hawkeye looks very much like a scaled-down version of the Legends figure, and the Renner headsculpt translates well to the smaller scale – sunglasses help. We already saw Iron Man (with Captain America and Thor) at San Diego Comic-Con, but I haven’t done a detailed check to see if there’s deco differences.
We saw the Amazing Spider-Man figure at SDCC too. I don’t think there’s anything substantial that’s changed here. I’ve got a metric ton of Spider-Men from the various Marvel Universe releases, so while I’ll probably want a movie Spidey if the movie is good, I’m a lot more interested in seeing what villains and supporting characters Hasbro will release with this line.
