Mattel has released hi-res versions of the Castle Grayskull pics in their New York Comic Con panel slideshow, and the pre-order page for the Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull is now live. The big question now is whether you’re going to commit to plunk down the $250 when and if this ships in Fall of 2013.

All-new Castle Grayskull to be released in 2013 as long as we hit our minimum production goal.

For comparison, when Mattel announced this a little over three weeks ago at Power Con, about 60% of folks who responded to our “Will You Pre-Order Castle Grayskull?” poll said they would – but at the time the expected price was $200.

I decided not to pre-order Grayskull. Honestly, I was just expecting too much from Mattel on this one and was a bit disappointed. A re-hash of the 1980’s “fold-out” version was a let-down. The way Mattel has been going “all-out” on the Classics line with bigger and better figures than ever should have carried over to Castle Grayskull, making it the most epic Fortress Playset of all time. It is not. It’s cool, but not what it should be. An idea was thrown around for having segments of Grayskull ship piece by piece, allowing collectors to construct a massive Fortress of Power (not to mention eliminate astronomical shipping costs), but Mattel opted for the two-sided folding design instead. I’m saying the price isn’t worth the “two walls” I’d be buying.
