Hot Toys had previously posted teasers for their Man of Steel figures, and have already revealed (naturally) the Hot Toys Man of Steel Superman figure. Over the weekend, they finally revealed Jor-El – and I think the likeness to Russell Crowe is pretty good. Still no word on Zod yet, though I imagine he is inevitable.
I’ve been doing a little bit of travel (yeah, I know, I should be resting up for Comic-Con) so I haven’t even seen Man of Steel yet. Those of you who have, what do you think? Should I see it on the big screen?
With the holiday weekend, I haven’t yet seen pre-orders, but I’d check for the Hot Toys Jor-El at Sideshow Collectibles and BigBadToyStore.
Man of Steel: 1/6th scale Jor-El Collectible Figure
Man of Steel has finally hit the theatres in many countries worldwide and has a successful box office record. Every story has a beginning, and Man of Steel unfolds it by showing the audience the origin of Superman. Foreseeing the inevitable doom of Krypton, Jor-El sends his new-born son to Earth to preserve the Kryptonian race. A caring father even after death, Jor-El’s artificial consciousness guides Clark Kent to bring hopes to mankind and leads to the rise of the iconic superhero.
The movie-accurate collectible is specially crafted based on the image of the Academy Award winner, Russell Crowe, as Jor-El in the movie which features a meticulously-made costume and accessories with great details.
It’s a good movie Ron, go check it out! Yeah, there have been some naysayers, but I think it works a whole bunch better as a reboot than Superman Returns did. There’s a good deal of action, some grand spectacle, decent performances from the likes of Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Russell Crowe and of course Michael Shannon, and a scene-stealing henchwoman in the form of Antje Traue’s Faora. I’ve heard her been called the “Boba Fett of the Man of Steel-verse”. Henry Cavill himself is not bad at all as the character and the flashbacks to Clark’s childhood brought me to tears.
