As much as I love the Hot Toys movie-based offerings, for years I’ve been jonesing for a comics-based line of DC superheroes. I thought there was an alternative with Play Imaginative’s New 52 line, but the high price of the Super Alloy diecast line coupled with the highly stylized look (see Batman and Superman) has dampened my enthusiasm.
But Sideshow has been stepping up to the plate – they’ve previously offered Harley Quinn, the Joker, Catwoman, and Batman, and now they’ve come to bat with the big blue boy scout himself. I’ll be hemming and hawing on these figures – the earlier ones look nice, but with Batman and Superman, there’s something a little overdone with their head sculpts – I like the look generally, but the emotions (creases and shading) might be a bit severe. What do you guys think?
Look, up in the sky! Superman joins the Sideshow Sixth Scale collection
“Up, up, and away!”
At last, the most famous and enduring superhero from the DC Universe has landed! Sideshow is proud to present the Superman Sixth Scale Figure.
Inspired by over 75 years of comic book legacy, Superman takes flight wearing his iconic red and blue costume, exquisitely tailored with unmistakable S-shield emblazoned across the chest. With the aid of an adjustable themed base, pose the Man of Steel in midair, and complete the look with a freeflowing or poseable fabric cape.
Interchangeable hands and portrait expressions perfectly capture the good-natured and serious sides of the hero’s personality, as well as his powerful heat vision. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail on a fully articulated muscular body design, Superman is ready to protect the city of Metropolis, and fight the never-ending battle for truth and justice.
Sideshow Exclusive
The Sideshow Exclusive edition includes an additional swap out hand clutching the head of the cyborg supervillain, Metallo (shown left and below).

Alright SSC’s S1/6 Superman is here and I say worth the wait. All things people picked at has been seen to.No black outline around the S shield,I didn’t care.No 5 o’clock shadow,I didn’t care. Also looks like a large S that is nice,I did hope for that. For me outfit could have been a little darker but I think its fine. Thanks SSC Will most likely be calling tomorrow or Friday.Really like this supes he stands alone got his own look. Now not to take anything away from hero’s. How about sometime doing a Lois for him? No one has ever done a 1/6 scale Lois Lane that I know of and not a great one.So how about it SSC hint hint.I would say a long hair style one.Yours S.Polzak
