Here’s a closer look at the recent video reveals from DC Collectibles, including the Poison Ivy statue, Cyborg, Stargirl, and the rest of wave 1 and 2 of Batman: The Animated Series.
Now that we’ve got pictures of the latest reveal, Man-Bat, I can see why people have been commenting on the limited articulation of the figure relative to the rest. Seeing as how awkwardly proportioned the character is in the knees, elbows, and ankles, I’m not sure how they could articulate the figure without it collapsing under its own weight all the time. What do you guys think?
DC Collectibles May 2014 Product Reveals
Did you catch all the new action figures and statues we’ve revealed this week? Which one are you most excited about?
I can see the point about Man-Bat’s small legs, but couldn’t the have at least worked a way out for his arms and wings to go out to the side, with some sort of ball at the shoulder? Right now, it looks like he just do the classic kind of marching like a soldier motion of old toys, before the days of modern articulation.
It really does stand out amongst the others, too, with their great balance of sculpt and articulation. Too bad that I noticed Ivy seems to be mostly the same, with her small build, as well.
Ivy at least has what looks like ball-jointed shoulders. All of their little charts point to the shoulders and count it as one. Ivy’s looks to be the only one that I can see it may have a ball-joint. Man, I hope they all do.
ManBat however looks like those shoulders are locked in, unless they fold up into the torso when you raise the arms.
Lots of folks are crying too much articulation, but I want it. Lots of it. Ivy is beautiful but she’ll look a lot better if she can pose a bit.
Ideally, ManBat is not finished yet, but that seems odd since all the rest do look finished. I personally hope Manbat comes with alternate arms with the wings spread.
