WARPO’S LEGENDS OF CTHULHU ACTION FIGURES CROWD-FUNDED IN 3 DAYS
Indie Toy Company Reaches Kickstarter Goal, First Stretch Goal Revealed
JUNE 12, 2014 (Chicago, IL): Warpo happily announces the Legends of Cthulhu retro action figure line has been fully funded via Kickstarter, raising the initial goal of $60,000 in three days, with 26 more days until the campaign is completed.
Backers have secured the production of the four figures – The Professor, The Cultist, The Deep One, and Spawn of Cthulhu, along with their accessories. Spawn of Cthulhu is armed with a Necronomicon and snap-on wings. The Cultist is outfitted with a staff, a dagger, and a ceremonial mask. The Deep One trolls the watery depths with a spear, and The Professor has his pistol and that fated idol.
Says VP of Product Development Tommy Baldwin, “Team Warpo couldn’t be more excited and thankful for reaching our first fundraising goal! Thanks to all the Warpers who helped us make Legends of Cthulhu a reality.”
Warpo is also thrilled to announce the first stretch goal in the campaign. When $65,000 is raised, Conjured Cthulhu will appear; The Great One caught right at the moment a Cultist is conjuring him into this world. The Conjured Cthulhu 3.75” action figure will be cast in translucent-green, and manufactured exclusively for Kickstarter backers of “Cultist-Level” or higher. Conjured Cthulhu will be made in a limited run, never to be produced again.
“As we worked through this project, there were always those ‘wouldn’t it be cool if’ ideas,” says Warpo President Bryan Katzel. “That’s what the stretch goals are, and each one we get to bring to fruition will be a dream come true.”
Legends of Cthulhu is a retro-styled, 3.75” action figure line, the first based on the iconic characters of H.P. Lovecraft. Warpo founders Bryan Katzel, Eric LeFeber, and Tommy Baldwin, enlisted legendary sculptor Eddy Mosqueda (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Masters of the Universe),andartist Ken Kelly (Micronauts, Manglor Mountain, KISS’ Destroyer album cover), the pioneers of the look and feel of beloved action figures from the 1970s and 1980s, to bring Legends of Cthulhu to life. Figures will come packaged in a nostalgic, Kickstarter-exclusive blister-card, featuring original paintings by artist Ken Kelly.
The Legends of Cthulhu Kickstarter launched on Monday, June 9, 2014, with an initial fundraising goal of $60,000. The campaign is active for another 26 days. Follow the fun, back the project, or for more information, visit warpo.com/kickstarter.
