Marvel Minimates Series 34 Jean Grey Revealed

Somehow during the weekend I missed putting this up. Jean Grey in her 90’s costume is the final figure in Marvel Minimates Series 34.

And since you KNOW we couldn’t make Cyclops and not her, today’s Marvel Minimates Series 34 reveal is 90’s Jean Grey!

Here’s the entire wave, which also features Cyclops, Beast, and Rogue, also in their Jim Lee 90’s duds, and Black Queens Jean Grey and variant Selene with the Hellfire Club Guard army builder.

NECA Army of Two Figures Available for Pre-Order

I haven’t played this game, but saw the figures at San Diego Comic-Con and they looked cool.  The articulation looks a little lacking – every action-oriented video game figure ought to be super-poseable, at least in my humble opinion!

Army of Two Head into Battle

Because you can’t have just one.

EA’s upcoming sequel to the smash game Army of Two, dubbed Army of Two: The 40th Day, takes place a few years after the original. Main characters Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are mercenaries leading the company TransWorld Operations (TWO), and when a competing force starts reaking havoc in the city, it’s up to Rios and Salem to stop them the only way they know how: with huge, awesome-looking, customizable guns.

To celebrate Army of Two: The 40th Day’s upcoming January release, NECA is now taking preorders for our first Army of Two figures — Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem!

Each of these highly detailed and poseable figures is armed to the teeth with an assault rifle, a sniper rifle and a pistol. No worries if it’s too much to carry since the weapons attach to the figures’ back. Also included are the individual masks that Rios and Salem wear in the game — pivoting up and down to give them a better look at the action.

Tyson Rios and Elliot Salem are available for preorder now and will also be available at our Amazon storefront.

Good News for MOTU and DC Universe Classics, Bad News for Dark Knight

MOTUC - Scareglo (768x1024).jpgHe-ManSinestro Corps - Romat Ru (769x1024).jpgSinestro Corps - Karu-sil (769x1024).jpgAnimal Instinct - B'wana Beast (769x1024).jpgAnimal Instinct - Animal Man (771x1024).jpg

Mattel’s latest collector line update is a good news / bad news report.  The good: the He-Man re-release sold out within a few hours and Scareglow the next day, and Mattel also posted on Facebook that the Color of Fear 2-pack is the best selling DC Universe Classics 2-pack yet.  For Masters of the Universe Classics, I wonder if the He-Man sell-out there’s a whole new crop of collectors who jumped on board for the line.  And for DCUC, I hope the strength of sales helps convince Mattel to continue the 2-packs after next month’s Animal Instincts, which is reportedly the last for the time being.

The Dark Knight Movie Masters

The bad news: the continuation of the Dark Knight figures on MattyCollector.com may be stalled out.  The bank robber Joker was posted a month late, and is still available.  Since Mattel won’t commit to Survival Suit Bruce Wayne in December (the originally posted sales date was October 15), I am wondering if they’re waffling on continuing the line.  A lot of people weren’t thrilled with the $20 price tag, so it wouldn’t be surprising if sales are lackluster.

Gentle Giant 1/6 Scale R2-D2 Poly Stone Statue

Thanks to the good guys at OAFE for tweeting this, because I probably wouldn’t have seen it otherwise.

Although the write-up is a little ambiguous, there looks to be some articulation on this 1/6 scale “statue” of R2-D2.  From the pics, it looks like the dome swivels, and all the panels on it can be closed – I am hoping that’s true of the panels on the body too.  With all the attachments, this looks like a great piece for any Star Wars collector.

R2-D2 poses

Coming in Spring, 2010, Gentle Giant releases a deluxe version of everyone’s favorite astromech droid complete with eight accessories!

Periscope scanner, mechanical gripper, utility saw, Luke’s Return of the Jedi lightsaber and more can all be assembled into the statue’s exposed chest or dome panels. Measuring seven inches tall, this 1/6th scale Poly Stone statue is hand painted and will be a limited edition.

Look for this amazing new piece early next year!

AFP Hasbro G.I. JOE Q&A for 11/17/9

The Hasbro JOE team is back with another round of Q&A.  Thanks to Ray and Indy from the Fwoosh for these questions.

1. How did the Attack on Cobra Island and Defense of Cobra Island 7-packs do? Were they successful enough to make more beyond the upcoming Resolute sets? Can you tease all of us Resolute fans with some possible characters that will be showing up in those 7-packs?

GI JOE Cobra Island 7-packs
GI JOE Cobra Island 7-packs

The 7 packs did very well and we are excited to be releasing the new Resolute packs in fall 2010, unfortunately we will have to keep you waiting a little longer as they are still being finalized. More information on these packs will be released as soon as possible.

2. What kinds of pairings will be in the “Then and Now” sets?

You will see classic of ring figures with what’s been dubbed as modern era figures.

3. How does movie continuity affect the toy line? For example, since Cover Girl is dead in the movie, would that take her off the table for a Pursuit of Cobra figure? What about the Baroness being “good”?

We try to keep story lines as consistent as possible to avoid confusion but we also try to stay true to fans and the GI Joe lore. It’s all a matter of best judgment and each character is looked at on a case by case basis.
