Pre-sales for Queen Alluxandra and her Royal Council will begin this upcoming Wednesday. The Store Horsemen will be the only place get a complete set of the Royal Council and the mutant variant, Silissk. Here’s the official announcement, after which I’ll recap each of the figures and their inspirations.

The Four Horsemen have announced that they will begin taking pre-orders for “Queen Alluxandra of the Bluddmane Clan”, “Isadorra of the Ironspynne Clan”, “Siliskk the Mutant” and full sets of “Queen Alluxandra & Her Royal Council”, all characters from their fan favorite property “7th Kingdom”, beginning at 8pm est on Wednesday July 1st.

Although Queen Alluxandra and Isadorra will be available at both Store Horsemen (http://www.StoreHorsemen.com) and on hand at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, the ONLY place you’ll be able to get Siliskk and the Royal Council Set will be at Store Horsemen!

Queen Alluxandra and Isadorra will be $20.00 each (plus shipping – if you’re not purchasing them at SDCC) or you’ll be able to pre-order the pair together for only $35.00!
Siliskk will be available in very limited numbers only through Store Horesmen for $20.00 each, plus shipping. Queen Alluxandra & Her Royal Council will retail through Store Horsemen only for $220.00 for the full set of 11 figures.

The Royal Council set will include Queen Alluxandra, Isadorra, Siliskk, Kromius, Ccora, Akkuli, Biggara, Badathiir, D’zwirra, Oktobria and Raavia.

Royal Council sets are going to be limited to only 125 sets, so be sure to place your order early, because just like past 7th Kingdom sets, these are expected to sell out quickly!

Exclusive Hellboy 2 Mez-Itz Available at Toys R Us

I never thought I’d be buying designer vinyl toys – that’s something that’s more to my wife’s liking than mine. But one day she bought me a Mighty Muggs Hulk.  (Ok, maybe Muggs don’t qualify as “designer” since they’re targeted at the mass market, but they’re vinyl!)  Since then, I’ve been picking ones up here and there.

One segment where we do overlap is Hellboy vinyl.   She’s bought a few Hellboy Qees and I think these will fit in with those and my Muggs. I’m not sure what to do. Our collecting worlds are colliding.

Toys R Us Exclusive Hellboy Mez-Itz Arriving In Stores This July!

Mez-itz 6″ rotocast vinyl collectables that are cool by design. seriesOne of Mezco’s designer vinyl line presents Hellboy & Abe Sapien. These figures, based on the character designs from the film Hellboy 2:The Golden Army unleash the potential of the Mez-itz designer figures. Applying the essence of these dynamic heroes onto the canvas like Mezitz vinyl Mezco produces something exciting and original.

These two figures are exclusive to Toys R Us and ToysRus.com.

They can be purchased at

or at your local Toys R Us retail location.

Press Pics of DC Universe Classics Wave 9

Mattel updated their Facebook page with loose and packaged pictures of DC Universe Classics Wave 9 – Black Adam, Black Canary, Guardian, Deadshot, Green Arrow, Mantis (with human and robot variants), and Wildcat (with black and blue variants).  The two Mantises (Mantii?) are labeled as variants, suggesting a close to even ratio, while the blue Wildcat is labeled a chase figure.  They also have a shot of the completed Chemo Collect and Connect figure.  If I’m not mistaken, all the loose pictures with the exception of the blue chase variant of Wildcat are two-ups.

The question now is when these will start hitting shelves.  Most online retailers show this hitting in 3rd quarter, which is right around the corner.  However no auctions with figures in hand or even pre-sales are up on Ebay, so I’m guessing we’ve still got a while to go.

Marvel Universe – Wave 3 – Loose

Marvel Universe Wave 3
Marvel Universe Wave 3

Ok, I admit it. I’m pretty far behind on taking loose shots of Hasbro’s Marvel Universe Wave 3 (and 4). I’ve had this series for a few weeks now, and Wave 4 just arrived a couple of days ago. So why the delay?

I blame Nick Fury. Since I heard about the Nick Fury exclusive figure, I’ve been meticulously saving up the card backs and inserts, not knowing what was going to be needed to for the promotion. And now, even after I’ve learned that it’s a Marvel Digital Comics subscription I’ll need to get it, and that the cards I so gently saved are not, my obsessive compulsive tendencies have kicked in. I’m being just as careful tearing these things open, and it takes time.

The real delay was waiting for the OpenX package opener that I ordered because I can’t help buying gadgets and wanted to use it to preserve the cards. The good news is it works great!

All right, let’s get onto the figures!

Mattel Releases Plans for San Diego Comic-Con

We got an update from Toy Guru that next week’s Q&A would be the last before August, so our strategy to save up all the hard-hitting questions until the July 15 Q&A was tragically flawed.  On the plus side, a lot of our questions were going to be about what lines would they have on hand at the show, when their panels were going to be, and what exclusives were they selling – and Mattel just posted all of that info on Mattycollector.com.

One license that I was expecting but is not in the announcement is WWE – they’ve told us in the past that with the license due to kick off in 2010, they wouldn’t be sharing any information until San Diego at the earliest.  We’ll try to find out whether they’ll be talking about WWE at San Diego.

San Diego Comic-Con 2009—New Toys & More

By Matty

Comic-Con is coming!

For us toy collectors, the granddaddy of events has to be San Diego Comic-Con. The 2009 show starts July 23rd (preview night July 22nd) and runs through July 26th, and this year I’m bringing more cool stuff than ever before!

FAN PANELS

First off, we’ll have not one, but TWO fan panels at the show:

Mattel & DC Comics, a Powerful Partnership

Friday, JULY 24

11:00 AM – 12:00 NOON

ROOM 2

MattyPalooza

Friday, JULY 24

NEW PRODUCTS

Then, visit me at Booth #2845, and you’ll find tons of new toys either just coming on the market or soon to come. We’ll have Ghostbusters™, DC Universe, DC Universe Classics, Infinite Heroes, Justice League Unlimited, Masters of the Universe Classics, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Disney/Pixar CARS, Toy Story, Hot Wheels, Scene It? The DVD Game, and the insane new Mindflex game — plus a few surprises!

PRODUCTS AVAILABLE AT COMIC-CON

Products will be sold starting preview night. Customer service and safety is our number one priority, so we’ll have a separate booth run by our Toy Club to handle sales. Lines will only be allowed to get as long as the designated roped-off area, but “fast-pass” tickets will be handed out to reserve your spot later that day. Limits on all exclusives will be six per person, per visit to the Mattel booth.

If you choose to wait in line a second time, you’ll be eligible to buy another 6 figures (there will also be a limit of six figures for online purchases after the show). It should all go very smoothly for the best buying experience yet!

We’re going to have plenty of gotta-get products available for sale, including (click each for all the scoop):

PRODUCTS AVAILABLE AT MATTYCOLLECTOR.COM

Can’t make it to Comic-Con? Fear not, fair comic fan! You’ll be able to get everything listed above on MattyCollector.com starting at 12:00 Noon on Monday, August 3rd, except these items:

  • SDCC variant He-Ro
  • SDCC variant Buzz Lightyear (with “Andy” on his foot)
  • SDCC Gleek (but the onder Twins without Gleek will be available)

Whew! That’s it for now, but stay tuned to MattyCollector.com, because I’ll have more news as Comic-Con gets closer.
