DC Universe Classics Custom All-Star Batman by Buzzy Fret

… or more affectionately titled; the G.D. Batman.

First off I have to give Ron props. I loved his CustomCon 24 DC Universe Classics Earth 2 Customs and they (especially the Robin and Batman) were a big part of the inspiration for making this G.D. Batman. If you haven’t seen them, definitely check ’em out.

Superman Batman Public Enemies Wave 2 – Now With 100% More Batman!

but a lot less Superman…

Hate to stick another thorn in Ron’s jealous hide but a week of daily visits to Target here in Gainesville, FL has paid off this morning! I passed on the metallic Superman redux as I had already gotten the Brimstone part that came with him from fellow NE FL Fwoosher Superdoug and I just don’t need another Superman…

Customizing Tips from the Buzzy Cave: Making Your Own Wet Palette

Welcome to Customizing Tips from the Buzzy Cave! Hopefully I’ll pass on some tips, tricks or minutiae that will help make action figure customizing easier for someone out there.

I’m always getting asked… well a lot of people have asked… um… okay,  a couple guys have commented in the past that my paint apps are pretty smooth and they asked; “How does a ham-fisted idiot like you do that?”

Very simply, I use a wet palette.

But Buzzy, what the hell is a wet palette and why would I need one?

According to Wikipedia–  a wet palette is especially useful with acrylics that dry quickly on a dry palette. A wet palette is a sealable container with a layer of absorbent material (such as tissue paper) that can be soaked with water and a semi-permeable membrane over that. The paint sits on the membrane and is kept wet by osmosis. Wet palettes can be bought, but are easily made.

DC Universe Classics Wave 11 Part 1

DCUC 11 Kilowog 028.jpg

Wham! DC Universe Classics Wave 11 is here and collectors are getting them from e-tailers, retailers and MattyCollector.com. It’s literally raining DCUC 11! And what better way to rejoice than loading up AFP with a boatload of DCUC 11 pics, praises and nit picks!

I knew it was going to be a very Merry Christmas for me as the DCUC 11 set I ordered from Enchanted Toy Chest arrived on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately my wife was home from work already and decreed I couldn’t open the case until Christmas morning…

Before I get to the individual figures, I’ll go over some generalities about the whole set. First off all the figures for this Wave that I received are very well made. The plastic is good and sturdy feeling (compared to the Wave 9 figure’s plastic that had a soft, waxy feel). They all have nice tight joints and are easy to put into poses without fear of them toppling over and clearing out a row of figures on your shelf. The paint apps are pretty good, not as tight as DCUC 10, but nothing horrendous. Unfortunately almost every figure in my set has some kind of scarring on their faces. Wonder if this is widespread throughout the run? Other than that the quality is very good.
