DC Universe Classics All-Star Green Lantern (Metallic TRU Exclusive)

I’m not a big fan of repaints, but I am a big fan of metallic paints on a figure. So when I found out that Toys “R” Us was going to be releasing a modern version of Green Lantern with metallic green paint, I knew I had to pick this one up. TRU had already started their exclusive repaints with the DC Universe Classics All-Star Batman (which I actually haven’t seen yet in my local TRU’s). This week the Green Lantern repaints finally made it into Toys “R” Us stores. Let’s have a look at him!

Action Figure Flashback – Marvel Legends Series 8 Man-Thing

ML Man-Thing 034

Chemist Ted Sallis was assigned to “Project Gladiator”, an experiment aimed at recreating the lost “super-soldier” serum that had spawned Captain America during World War II. Sallis attempted to modify the “super-soldier” serum with another serum, one that had historically transformed people into monsters and got close to success. But he was betrayed by his wife, Ellen. To guarantee that the secret would not fall into the wrong hands, Sallis injected himself with the only existing sample of his modified Super Soldier serum, and fled into the nearby swamp. Sallis should have died, but over the course of several hours, mystical forces combined with chemical science to transform him into the monstrous, misshapen creature who would be dubbed the Man-Thing.

Retailer Exclusive WWRp Bertie Photo Contest – Failed Entry Number One

Last night I posted about OneSixthBruce’s photo contest to win a retailer exclusive WWRp Bertie. I think the three new colorways all look awesome, so I want to enter.

The theme is “every day 3a” – and you’re meant to take a picture of you with a 3A toy. Here was my first attempt:

I’ve been picking up singles of the Dirty Deeds 12-pack individually on eBay (I hadn’t started collecting these yet when they originally went on sale), and had been wanting to take pictures of them. So I took a picture of one of them using the photo backdrop I made a while back, and added my severed head – this version of the Dirty Deeds Bertie comes with 3 severed heads.

Unfortunately, I hadn’t yet seen the contest rule that plainly states, “No Photoshop to be used!” – back to the drawing board!

Spy Monkey Creations Shield of Destruction and Shield of Deliverance

DSCN5692.JPG

Spy Monkey Creations has given us an early look at their Shield of Destruction and Shield of Deliverance, which are available starting today. These shields are designed to complement any 6 or 7-inch action figure line, but as you can see from the pics, it is obvious that these shields were inspired by the Masters of the Universe Classics toyline. The colors and deco match certain characters of MOTUC, and the design/look of the shields perfectly blend with the figures.

The shields have a diameter of about 2 inches, and are cast in sturdy, metallic-colored plastic. There is one base sculpt for all the shields, but they come in five different colors, and each has a different jewel/gemstone setting at it’s center. This creates a unique look and attitude for each shield.
