Hasbro 3.75-Inch Iron Man 2 Concept Series – Hypervelocity Iron Man and Deep Dive Iron Man

Iron Man 2’s May 7th release date comes closer and Hasbro’s accompanying toyline has started to make appearances in retail! Last time we had a look at some figures from the Comic Series of the 3.75″ Iron Man 2 line, today we’re taking a look at the Hypervelocity Armor and the Deep Dive Armor from the line’s Concept Series.

From what I understand, these armor versions are not in the movie, nor are they part of the Iron Man comic continuity – rather they are concept explorations of how Iron Man armors can be designed for different uses. I guess it’s a chance for the toy designers to get creative and design their own different versions of Iron Man. I think it is a fitting idea. Tony Stark already has an array of armors for different environments and purposes, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he had designs for a “Hypervelocity” or “Deep Dive” armor somewhere in his hard drive!

DC Universe Classics All-Star Batman Quick Pics

A few days ago, I was checking out an article at ItsAllTrue.net – Noisy had just found a case of Toys R Us exclusive All-Star Batmen. My inner sarcastic voice was saying, great, just what we need – yet another Batman variant based off that figure we got way back in the first wave of DC Universe Classics.

Fast forward a couple of days, and I’m in Toys R Us. I’m not even there for myself – my wife was replacing a plush toy she had given away as a gift. And I’m holding one of these new Batman figures in my hand, thinking about how cool the pin looks, and how I could replace the black and gray Batman in my Justice League of America display, because that one has the yellow oval, not this neat black bat symbol…

So yes, Mattel, you win this round.  Just like you win every round.

(In case you’re wondering, that’s a custom Tim Drake Robin in the Freddie Williams style, by our own Buzzy Fret. I’m so psyched to have him in my Batman display.)

Masters of the Universe Battle Cat – Quick Pic

I’m going to leave the honor of reviewing Battle Cat and Trap Jaw to Sandman – his pics are always a lot more entertaining than mine so it’ll be worth waiting a couple of days. In the meantime, here’s a quick pic of Battle Cat with He-Man and Teela – I wanted to see if I could recreate the scene (inset) from one of the original mini-comics.  How’d I do?

Incidentally, I was happy that Digital River and Mattel contacted some folks about filling orders that fell through last week – Sandman was one of the lucky ones.  I know that there are still a lot of people who weren’t so fortunate – for those folks, the silver lining is that Mattel is already planning to rerelease Battle Cat and Trap Jaw in the fall.

And stay tuned, Buzzy Fret is going to have his review of Wave 12 right here on AFP pretty soon too. – Ron

Wha’?! Oh yeah, Wave 12!

That’s right true believers, with hardly a chance to catch our breath from Wave 11, DC Universe Classics Wave 12 has come crashing down on us like a big ole Action Figure Tsunami! And what an interesting Wave it is. This is the first DCUC Wave sporting the new 75th Anniversary packaging and Collector Pins and the last (for only a little while I hope) to have a Fourth World character in the line-up. Whatever your feelings about DCUC 12, it is packed with character(s).

Marvel Universe 2010 Wave 2

Marvel Universe 2010 Wave 2 (1024x733).jpg

I’ve been a fan of the Marvel Universe line since it first debuted last year, and have been very pleased to see the line get better with each successive wave of figures.  The second wave of 2010 is no exception – I think this is the best wave to hit yet, so I was pretty psyched when our good friends at Hasbro sent over a set of figures for us to review.  Plus, our good fortune can also be your good fortune – our Free Stuff giveaway in March will include some of these figures too (read on for more info).
