Mini-Figure Broken Wall and Broken Window Dioramas

Minimate Broken Wall and Broken Window Dioramas

Luke’s Toy Store, who started a sponsorship campaign with us at the start of the year, sent over a set of their Mini-Figure Dioramas, including the Broken Wall and Broken Window sets.  I told Luke before he dropped the package in the mail that I’d be speaking my mind, and he was fine with that.  So let’s take a look!

I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of packaging and contents – Luke’s is a family-run business – but I was impressed with what I received.  Each diorama was packed in a ziplock bag with a heavy cardstock four-color label depicting the final product.  Inside, the parts of the diorama and an instruction sheet, again printed clearly on heavy cardstock.

Superman Batman Public Enemies Wave 2

Here are some pictures and quick thoughts from Fwoosher Studmuffin. We both live in the San Francisco Bay Area, but he manages to find everything and I just get to be jealous. 😀

The second assortment of the Public Enemies’ series came as a total surprise. The truth is, I wasn’t expecting much and really was only interested in finally being able to build the elusive Apokoliptian instrument of mass destruction, Brimstone.

threeA Toys World War Robot Portable Winter Bramble

This is a guest review by Fwoosher MatthewK. This review was first published on the Fwoosh E-Zine.

The World War Robot Portable (WWRP) is a series of vinyl action figures based on the artwork of Ashley Wood. The original WWR figures were 1/6th scale figures (12inch), but this new WWRP line has robots shrunk down to the 1/12 scale familiar to fans of Marvel Legends and DC Universe Classics. I just picked up my first Bramble Frosty (The model name of the robot is Bramble and mine is painted in the ‘winter’ colorway with the nickname ‘Frosty’) from sponsor Big Bad Toy Store.

Masters of the Universe Classics Battle Armor He-Man

Masters of the Universe Classics Battle Armor He-Man

I am hoping to have some pictures of the recent Masters of the Universe Classics figures from a very talented photographer whose MOTU collection is quite impressive, but in the meantime, I couldn’t resist snapping some pictures of my favorite hero from the line – Battle Armor He-Man.

The vintage figure was also one of my favorites when I was growing up.  I was enamored with the barrel mechanism in his chest that showed progressive damage when it was hit.  Between that and the spring-loaded waists on the figures, I had a lot of fun having fights between the Battle Armor versions of He-Man and Skeletor.

Hot Toys DX MMS The Dark Knight Joker

Hot Toys DX MMS The Dark Knight Joker

If I could tell my younger self that one day I’d be gingerly pulling pants onto a 12-inch figure, being careful not to snag or tear them, my younger self would have had a good laugh.  After all, as one of my good friends likes to say, I collect action figures – not dolls.  Well, if the Hot Toys Joker from The Dark Knight is a doll, then a doll collector I’ve become.

Not that I didn’t see myself ending up here – my slide down the slippery slope began with the Medicom Real Action Heroes Goku and Piccolo and got cemented when I bought the VCD Gohan just for the Piccolo interchangeable head.  But this is my first Hot Toys purchase.  And judging from how I feel about this 12-inch action figure – not doll! – my wallet is going to be taking a beating.

Before I even got to the figures, I was astounded by how much actually went into the packaging.  The inner box flips open to reveal a description of the Joker and his role in The Dark Knight  as well as three full-sized playing cards.
