DC Universe Classics Wave 12

DC Universe Wave 12 - Iron, Mary Batson, Darkseid, the Spectre, Eclipso, and Copperhead

Fwoosher disturbedwarrior was kind enough to shoot some pictures of his set of DC Universe Classics Wave 12 – the Darkseid Collect and Connect wave – at least until the batteries on his camera gave out.  For those of you wondering if these have already hit retail, they have not.  Mattel shipped some characters in solid cases to online retailers – Big Bad Toy Store still has Desaad and the two variants of Mary Batson available, but sold out of Copperhead.  Entertainment Earth got the same figures and still has Copperhead available.

Here’s disturbedwarrior’s thoughts on the Darkseid Collect and Connect:

Darkseid was a B***h to put together because of the plastic ring around the peg of the torso where you collect the lower body. I had to boil the two pieces to get them to connect.

Mattel WWE CM Punk and Edge Elites, Glamarella and HBK vs. Y2J Two-Packs

Drunken Fist brings us another guest review for Mattel’s new WWE lines. This time we’re rounding out our first looks at the the Elite Collection (Salem Crow hit 3 of 4 Elites in his review) with Edge and CM Punk, and a couple of the 2-packs with Beth Phoenix / Santino Marella and Shawn Michaels / Chris Jericho.

DC Universe Classics Wave 11 Part 1

DCUC 11 Kilowog 028.jpg

Wham! DC Universe Classics Wave 11 is here and collectors are getting them from e-tailers, retailers and MattyCollector.com. It’s literally raining DCUC 11! And what better way to rejoice than loading up AFP with a boatload of DCUC 11 pics, praises and nit picks!

I knew it was going to be a very Merry Christmas for me as the DCUC 11 set I ordered from Enchanted Toy Chest arrived on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately my wife was home from work already and decreed I couldn’t open the case until Christmas morning…

Before I get to the individual figures, I’ll go over some generalities about the whole set. First off all the figures for this Wave that I received are very well made. The plastic is good and sturdy feeling (compared to the Wave 9 figure’s plastic that had a soft, waxy feel). They all have nice tight joints and are easy to put into poses without fear of them toppling over and clearing out a row of figures on your shelf. The paint apps are pretty good, not as tight as DCUC 10, but nothing horrendous. Unfortunately almost every figure in my set has some kind of scarring on their faces. Wonder if this is widespread throughout the run? Other than that the quality is very good.

Marvel Legends Iron Man 6-Inch Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man Test Shots

I promised you a break from all the Mattel goodness that’s going on right now.  You may recall that a couple of weeks ago test shots for the 6-inch versions of Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man were on auction on eBay.  Turns out that Fwoosher worldwar_hulk won a set of these test shots, and has sent along a huge number of pics.  You may notice a Marvel Legends 2-pack Iron Man in one of the group shots – you can see more of that gold Iron Man repaint in worldwar_hulk’s Fwoosh customs thread.

We first saw these figures as images as part of Hasbro’s Marvel presentation at Toy Fair last year,  and were crushed when Hasbro pulled them from their display booth prior to the start of San Diego Comic-Con last July.  I am hopeful that since these have had tools made, we’ll eventually get them on our shelves.
