I had hoped to do a joint review with Pablolobo from the Fwoosh, since he got his hands on the blue and yellow version of Goliath, but he has been too busy running marathons, pooping, and giving presentations (hopefully not about pooping) at work.

We’ll be taking a look today at the two Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles sets that are exclusive to Wal-Mart.  The first set features a Giant Skrull and the Bucky Barnes Captain America, and the second features Goliath and a pointy-headed Iron Man.  I liked the idea of these very much when they were first announced, because it’s another sign of strength for the Marvel Universe line, and could be a stepping stone to other large format toys, like vehicles and playsets.  Let’s see how these held up in production.

DC Universe Classics Color of Fear Two-Pack Romat-Ru and Karu-Sil

DC Universe Classics Color of Fear - Karu-Sil and Romat-Ru
DC Universe Classics Color of Fear - Karu-Sil and Romat-Ru

The DC Universe Classics Color of Fear set is the penultimate (nice word, right?) 2-pack to be offered on MattyCollector.com.  The previous 2-packs, Space Heroes and Battle for Earth 3 didn’t quite meet Mattel’s expectations (they are still available as of this writing) so after this set and next month’s Animal Instincts 2-pack, there’s nothing planned for the forseeable future.

The good news is that this has been the fastest-selling 2-pack thus far.  If this and Animal Instincts do well, we might see more down the line.

Masters of the Universe Classics Teela and Scareglow

Masters of the Universe Classics Teela and Scareglow

I’ll admit it – I didn’t open the Teela that I got as part of my Masters of the Universe September – December subscription last month.  I was a little irked by how Mattel and Digital River handled the subs, and by the time I actually had the little white box in my hand, I just wasn’t feeling it.

But this month, they handled it well.  The day before sales day, I got an email from Digital River saying that my sub was being renewed (I would have said “processed” but I got the picture) and a couple of days later, Scareglow showed up.  And you know what?  I really like both these figures more than I thought I would.

It’s early yet, but it seems like so many people have gotten DC Universe Classics Wave 11 into their grubby little hands – check out our earlier posts with packaged pics and a close look at the Question.

Customizer WeaponXII was the latest to get his hands filled, but I don’t hate him because he was good enough to send pics of the set that his cousin picked up for him.  OK, he didn’t even have to look for them himself, so I hate him again. 😉

Some early concern that Cyborg Superman would have the wide stance of the original has been addressed – he’s much improved in that regard.  And John Stewart looks outstanding!

Mattel WWE Basic Series 1

WWE Basic Series 1
WWE Basic Series 1

No, it’s not January 1 yet, but it might be close enough for one retailer Down Under.  Australian Fwoosher SWH happened across a fresh set of Mattel’s WWE Basic Series 1, just under 8 weeks before the new line is supposed to be released into retail.  He’s graciously let me post his review here, and it answers a whole ton of the burning questions.

Without further ado, here’s SWH with his review of Mattel’s new Basic line for WWE!
