Diamond Select Toys Announces Minimates 10th Anniversary Event at New York Comic-Con

Anyone remember these? They’re Bruce Lee Minimates, back when they were still 3-inches large, and back when Tower Records still existed and you could find toys at specialty retailers. These Minimates are from my father-in-law’s pop culture collection. He was also into comics, so there was always something cool to read or new to check out. These Bruce Lee Minimates got me hooked on the large Star Trek Minimates, then the small ones, then the Marvel and DC lines.

It’s kind of nuts that Minimates are a decade old. Congrats to the Art Asylum alums and the Diamond Select crew. I can’t wait to check out the Minimates exhibit at NYCC!

Mattel Sponsors Masters of the Universe Art Show for Charity During New York Comic Con

Toy Tokyo and its Underground gallery have become a regular stop for me when I’m in NYC. The Four Horsemen have held their Toypocalypse events there the past two Toy Fairs, and now Mattel is using the venue to host a MOTU art show, with the benefits proceeding the Ronald McDonald House.

Toys, Masters of the Universe, and art? I’ll won’t miss it!

Be sure to check out My Art – Masters of the Universe and Others – there’s a ton of Axel’s awesome illustrations.

Mattel to Reveal Masters of the Universe Classics Snake Face, Karatti, and Octavia at PowerCon

Mattel is looking out for Masters fans who couldn’t make it to Los Angeles for PowerCon, with a sneak peek at three figures they’re revealing at the show – Snake Face, Karatti, and Octavia – the Club Eternia line-up for April through June next year. We’ve got some vintage toy line / mini-comic love with Snake Face, New Adventures with Karatti, and She-Ra / Horde with Octavia. Impressed?
