Poll: Green Lantern Classics Top Ten

Between upcoming figures in DC Universe Classics, the Green Lantern 5-Pack, and the Green Lantern Classics line (of which one series is still to be revealed), you may think Mattel has tapped out the GL franchise when it comes to comics-based figures. How wrong you would be!

In honor of the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics, we’ve compiled a list of what we consider the 75 top candidates for Green Lantern action figures, from classic to modern, and from humanoid to not even close to being from this planet – and a planet itself!

Your job is to pick the Top Ten characters you want made into action figures. Submit your vote for up to ten characters listed below. The poll will stay open through the end of August, and we’ll announce the results a couple of days later. Let’s convince Mattel to make Green Lantern Classics Waves 3 and 4!

Poll: Which MattyCollector Subscriptions Did You Buy?

The Club Eternia and Club Ecto-1 subscriptions for 2011 completed their enrollment period yesterday. If you missed your chance to buy in, you’ll still be able to try your luck on MattyCollector.com each month (or around every other month, for Ghostbusters). But for the subscription exclusive figures, Preternian Disguise He-Man and Marshmallow Ray, you’re stuck in the aftermarket.

I ended up going just for the Masters of the Universe Classics subscription. I’ve been really happy with all the figures so far (except for Tytus, whom I missed out on a couple of months ago), and the MOTUC figures Mattel showed for 2011 at San Diego Comic-Con were awesome – so Club Eternia was a sure thing for me. Of the figures Mattel revealed for Ghostbusters, I could only really say that I wanted Louis Tully, so I passed on Club Ecto-1.

Poll: Would You Buy DC Universe Classics Characters You Already Had If They Were Re-released with Updated Articulation? – Round 2

After reading our San Diego Comic-Con 2010 – Mattel DC Universe Classics – Updates, AFP reader chisd made this comment about the updated articulation we saw:

Mattel, if ur listening, please……the wave 16 robin is soooo fine, with the extra articulation and all that stuff. BUT please, do not make the following waves (wave 17, 18, 19…) and the re-issues the same articulation with wave 16 robin. If you do that ALL our previous collections (wave 1,2,3,4…) MUST all be replaced with the “new trend” of these articulations. We dont wanna re-buy new batmans, supermans, etc just to be abreast with the new Dick Grayson robin. If you do that, it will be a burden to us collectors. It means we have to collect again. I just wish we could finally end our collections with the same line and same articulations. I have many collections already. I aint that rich.

A couple months ago, after Sandman showed off his Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle, we ran a poll asking if you would buy DCUC figures you already had if they were re-released with updated articulation. The results were interesting. Over 1/4 of voters said definitely no. A little less than that, over 1/5 said definitely yes. The remaining folks said it would depend.

Now that we’ve seen more prototypes feature double-jointed elbows and knees, and hinged wrists, it’s time to ask the question again. If you voted in the previous poll, you won’t be able to vote again. So if you’ve changed your mind, or just feel strongly about the articulation updates, leave a comment below.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 7/15/10

Here we go – it’s the last Ask Matty session before SDCC – and I’m afraid we didn’t do all that well getting the guys at Mattel to spill any surprises. Because of the show, there won’t be another Q&A until August 15th. Send in your questions, because I’m doing a lousy job at it!

1) Since this is the last Q&A before San Diego Comic-Con, can you give us some hints about the new figures that you plan to show from each line (without giving too much away, of course)?

MoLarr_Pkg — Getting info out of Matty is like pulling teeth! (Yeah, I know, that was horrible.)

For MOTUC, much like last year, we’ll be showing items through the first 2011 figures. For GB Classics, we will show about three to four new figures. For DCUC, we will have at least two waves of six-inch figures as well as some surprises. For JLU, we will show at least the remaining 2010 product, which includes the “skipped over” wave of JLU singles including show accurate Red Tornado and OMAC.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 6/14/10

Toy Guru was a day early with the mid-month edition of Ask Matty… or are we going to be a day late submitting questions for the next one? Thanks to him and Mattel for this round of Q&A.

1) How are the DC Universe Classics All-Star repaints like Batman and Green Lantern doing at retail? At least at the TRUs where I shop, they don’t stick around long. What are the plans to continue this past the fourth figure, and when will that fourth figure be revealed?

The TRU repaints are doing great. The fourth figure will be revealed at SDCC. We can’t confirm anything beyond that right now but hope to have news soon.
