AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 6/1/10

Toy Guru and Mattel are back with another edition of Ask Matty. Thanks, guys!

1) I’m psyched that with the Green Lantern movie slated for next year, and great events in comics like Blackest Night and Brightest Day that more GL figures are on the way. Were the pictures of the Wal-Mart exclusive GL 5-pack in ToyFare of finished product with no more tweaks possible? Any words of encouragement for Sinestro fans who might still be looking for a great representation of him?

We are still tweaking the figures a bit to make sure they can hold their Lanterns. Sinestro is pretty final. We hope to still do a full new Sinestro down the road to make him even more accurate.

Note: Images are not of final figures. They are images from auctions that Toy News International has collected from eBay seller alvintoy.

AFP Hasbro Marvel Q&A Roundup for 5/26/10

The Hasbro Marvel brand team is back with another round of Q&A. Thanks guys!

1) A couple of months ago, you revealed some new Iron Man 2 3.75-inch figures we hadn’t seen before – Black Widow, Nick Fury, and unmasked versions of Iron Man in the Mark VI armor and War Machine. When should we expect to see those on shelves? Will they be widely available or exclusive to a retailer? Will Iron Man and War Machine come with interchangeable heads for their masked looks?

These will arrive in store this fall (closer to DVD timing in October) at various retailers. We do not yet have confirmed launch dates from the retailers – so keep your eyes peeled! And, yes, they will come with their masked looks as well.

AFP Hasbro G.I. JOE Q&A for 5/23/10

The G.I. JOE team at Hasbro is back with another round of Q&A. If you recall, of the questions submitted, they’ll respond to a number of them of their choosing for the initial round of answers. Then in a couple of days, they’ll send out all the answers to all the questions for the current round. This time we got two out of three answered.

1) Have you ever considered releasing the figures you pack in vehicles like the Motor Viper / Nitro Viper or the upcoming Desert Scorpion in army builder friendly packs? More people would like to build squads but not have to buy 6 vehicles, for example.

Steel Crusher APV with Nitro Viper

Great suggestion. This is not currently in our plan but we will consider this type of pack in the future.

Poll: Would You Buy DC Universe Classics Characters You Already Had If They Were Re-released with Updated Articulation?

DC Universe Classics Blue Beetle with Marvel Legends Spider-Man (1200x1200)
DC Universe Classics Wave 13 Blue Beetle with his highly-articulated counterpart, Marvel Legends Spider-Man

About a week ago, Sandman shared some pics of the new Blue Beetle figure showing off some action poses that were enabled by his new articulation. Although Mattel has already brought to market highly articulated figures of the DC Universe Classics, the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle features some new points – double-jointed elbows and knees, and wrist hinges.

Mattel says they will use the new articulation moving forward, but will consider what articulation makes sense on a character by character basis. In DC Universe Classics wave 14 and DCUC wave 15 (revealed yesterday), the next two upcoming waves to hit retail, so far none of the figures feature the new joints.

That begs the question, should they only use the new articulation moving forward or should they revisit figures they’ve already released? Let us know!

Leave a comment with your thoughts on this article (below) and you could win a DC Universe Classics Wave 11 Steppenwolf (Super Powers version) as part of an AFP Free Stuff giveaway! Entry period ends at 11:59PM PST on May 31st, 2010.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 5/15/10

Toy Guru and Mattel are back with another edition of Ask Matty. Thanks, guys!

1. We love the softer plastic that was used for the outfit on the Masters of the Universe Classics Evil-Lyn (see Sandman’s Evil-Lyn review), which really helps when posing her legs. Are you planning to use this softer plastic when you re-issue Teela?

Yes we are.
