On Sale Now: ThreeA Toys Seamonkey and Snowpea

In my excitement over the announcement of the Invincible Iron Man pre-order from the 3A Toys and Marvel collaboration, I nearly forgot about this pre-order for another 3A collaboration – this time between Ashley Wood and Kenny Wong, for Seamonkey and Snowpea. If you’re looking for a backstory for these characters, I won’t be able to help. All I can tell you is that Kenny Wong’s Seamonkey, the steampunk-looking diving suit, was shown back in 2009 at Hong Kong Venture (an art show hosted by 3A). Shortly after, 3A announced they would produce Seamonkey as part of their Showcase line, which houses the lines that aren’t Ashley Wood’s IP. (While Showcase works with independent artists, it also holds the Marvel license.) Ash’s contribution to this collab is Snowpea, Seamonkey’s bikini-clad pilot.

But you don’t really care about all that, do you? I mean, it’s a robot diving suit with a babe pilot. It’s in 1/12 scale so that mech suit is huge. Up now at Bambaland, you can pre-order Seamonkey and Snowpea as a set for $230 and three color variant pilots, individually for $45 each. The pilots come with two heads – masked and unmasked. The pre-order window opened last night – not sure how long it will stay up.

If you’re a fan of Marvel Comics and are looking for something to class up your man cave, then this sale at Woot is for you. The Marvel Comic Book Canvas Art Sale features your favorite Marvel heroes and villains depicted in classic covers or comic book panels – but printed on canvas versus shoddy poster paper. NECA Returns to the Planet of the Apes this Summer

NECA Classic Planet of the Apes teaser 1 NECA Classic Planet of the Apes teaser 2

We knew that NECA had picked up the license for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but somehow missed that they’ve also got the rights for the classic films. They’ve shared two teasers so far of the classic line to arrive this summer. The Dr. Zaius shown is the paint master.

I’m wondering if this means we’ll be getting figures of Taylor or Nova, and not just those damn, dirty apes.

ThreeA Toys Invincible Iron Man Planned for Pre-Order in Mid-February

ThreeA Toys Invincible Iron Man

It’s been almost a year since 3A Toys announced that they would be collaborating with Marvel on a line of re-imagined Marvel heroes and villains. Since then we’ve seen some teaser pics for Iron Man with an initial plan to put him up for pre-order in December last year – that obviously passed, likely due to the approval process with Marvel. Looks like the pre-order is right around the corner, in the first couple of weeks of February.

The Invincible Iron Man is in 1/6 scale. He’s fully articulated – normally exposed joints (like in the elbows and knees) are hidden by soft PVC. LEDs will light up his eyes and his ARC reactor. Available individually or in a four-pack, 3A has not yet shared any info on pricing. Hopefully the Marvel licensing fees don’t push the prices up too much.

Q: You are probably asked a lot…but what about Iron Man and when we might see it at Bamba?

A: Well first week of Feb is Bambastark week, or around then, but its REALLY CLOSE, there are four variants, Classic, Silver Centurian, Stark Industries Prototype and the Stealth! Prototype is 3AA only as a single, or available in the mega 4 pack display box edition.

Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Sirens – Scream, Spider-Woman, and Storm

This week I found a few Marvel Legends females that show how the new Hasbro bodies are way ahead of what’s come before them.

  • Marvel Legends Scream by glennwebman69 – this spawn of Venom uses the Jean Grey body – it works for Scream’s lithe body type – great sculpt and paint here enhance the base figure – ends Feb 02, 2014 18:44:21 PST
  • Marvel Legends Spider-Woman by Loosecollector – this is a previously owned custom being sold by its current owner – the Jean Grey body is a big improvement over the lanky, awkward body that came from Toy Biz (hey, I was happy to get her way back then), but I’ve got to believe that Jessica Drew deserves the badonkadonk from the new Moonstone body – ends Jan 29, 2014 13:41:29 PST
  • Marvel Legends Storm by Wings – the old Toy Biz Storm was great back in the day, but seeing her on the Moonstone body has me convinced the weather witch needs more curves – the approach the customizer used with her hair makes for a nice wind-blown effect, but I would have liked to see it blended better at the hairline – ends Feb 02, 2014 13:08:04 PST

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!
