Happy New Year! AFP’s Best of 2010

As we kick off the new year, I asked the guys to make their picks for for best [insert anything toy-related] for 2010. I wasn’t sure, since we just picked our “most thankful for” figures a few weeks ago at Thanksgiving, if we’d have much to add. Turns out there was plenty that impressed us above and beyond our Thanksgiving picks.

I’ll get us started.

Best of 2010 - Iron Man 2 - Iron Monger

Ron’s pick – Hasbro Iron Man 2 – Iron Monger

I don’t want to get typecast, because I picked the Marvel Legends Iron Man as one of Fwoosh’s Best of 2009. But this year, I think that the Iron Man 2 line from Hasbro, in particular the Comic series, went a long way in winning over fans who were missing their 6-inch Legends to the 4-inch scale.

The line has some really great sculpts, decent enough paint apps, and some fantastic articulation at that size. And, of course, it brought us this awesome Iron Monger – the huge, classic, comic-based blue version that I never thought we’d get, since the movie-based Iron Monger lined shelves for a while.

There were lots of Hasbro Iron Man news and reviews this year, but one of my favorite posts was highlighting this custom Iron Man armory by Thor-El.

threeA Toys Action Portable Tomorrow King Severed Robot Head

The Tomorrow King Action Portable (1/12 scale) figure went on sale back in September, and since then we’ve gotten two previews (here and here) of the various colorways for the Tomorrow Kings, but here’s a closer look at one of the severed robot heads that will come with each figure.

I’m assuming that this is labeled the “standard” head, that there’ll be some variants, and that they’ll be packed randomly since they’re packaged separately from the TKs. We’ll see!

Winner – threeA Toys Motion Ad Contest

I’m bummed that Talyn didn’t take home the big prize with his entry to the 3A Motion Ad Contest, but the winning entry is pretty cool too. Check it out!

We could not have been happier and proud at 3A to get all the awesome entries in the motion ad contest !!!

They all showed great creativity and skills and in their own way each deserved to win, but in in the end only one can be one, highlander stylee. It was a close call between three entries, but after much debate the entry by zzzzz was picked ! Congratulations zzzzz, an awesome job !!!

But while im here, it cannot be stressed enough how important all the threeA community is to 3A, in all aspects, from rock solid support to their creativity talents and friendships that have helped make 3A what it is in 2010. So a big thanks to you all, we promise to make 2011 fucking great !!!!!

Again congratulations to zzzzz, and a very big thanks to all who entered !!!!

threeA Toys Adventure Kartel Bleak Mission on Sale 12/21

The Adventure Kartel family gets a little bigger with Bleak Mission – Tommy’s dad. I haven’t seen much revealed yet about this 1/6 scale figure, but he will come with a cigar and his anatomically correct pooch, as pictured here.

Bleak Mission goes on sale Tuesday 12/21 at 8PM EST at bambalandstore.com. Also set to go on sale, a shadow variant of Tommy in a 2-pack with a zomb.
