Remember when Marvel Select figures were almost like statues, with a few swivel cuts here and there? DST may be limited to 16 points of articulation on Select figures, but with the new style joints, they’ve got ridiculously good movement these days. The Mark 42 and War Machine figures are great examples, as illustrated by the new pics that DST has shared. I’m looking forward to seeing their Iron Patriot, and I wonder if the second exclusive they’ve teased will have a more feminine appeal.
Iron Man 3 is less than one month away, and Diamond Select Toys is hard at work on their Marvel Select action figures for the movie! Iron Man Mark 42 and War Machine were designed by Gentle Giant based on digital data from the film, and will stand approximately 7.5″ tall with 16 points of articulation.
Each will include an armor bay diorama base, and come packaged in DST’s display-ready Select figure packaging. They’ll be exclusively available at comic shops and specialty stores starting this summer, so check out these new photos and pre-order today! And stay tuned for news on the exclusive Iron Patriot figure and a second exclusive figure to be revealed!
We’ll Take It! Ghostbusters Light-Up Firehouse Mini-Statue Coming Soon!
The light-up Ghostbusters statue line continues with the famous Ghostbusters firehouse!
Lit from within like someone just shut down the containment grid, this 7-inch mini-statue is the perfect accessory for any Ghostbusters fan’s desk, and has been deemed safe for indoor use by the Evironmental Protection Agency.
Faithfully re-creating the iconic landmark, it stands atop a Ghostbusters logo-adorned base, and runs on two AAA batteries (included).
But it’s limited to only 1,984 pieces, so pre-order today at your local comic shop!
Diamond Select Toys is tempting me with their pics of the upcoming Barbarian Hulk and Storm figures.
I’m not sure where Barbarian Hulk is from in the comics, but the combination of those two words could produce some pretty kick ass stories. I’ve resigned myself that DST will be forever hamstrung by the articulation limits, so I don’t count that against this Hulk – but I do think his head might have turned out a bit too small in production.
Anyone remember these? They’re Bruce Lee Minimates, back when they were still 3-inches large, and back when Tower Records still existed and you could find toys at specialty retailers. These Minimates are from my father-in-law’s pop culture collection. He was also into comics, so there was always something cool to read or new to check out. These Bruce Lee Minimates got me hooked on the large Star Trek Minimates, then the small ones, then the Marvel and DC lines.
It’s kind of nuts that Minimates are a decade old. Congrats to the Art Asylum alums and the Diamond Select crew. I can’t wait to check out the Minimates exhibit at NYCC!
If you’re looking for some eye candy this weekend, Diamond Select Toys is willing to oblige, and even send some your way, if you’re lucky – with their Femme Fatales Giveaway! It’s easy, pick your favorite pic of a Femme Fatales statue and post it on pretty much any of the social media networks, send the link to collectdst@gmail, and if they pick you, you’ll get some Femme Fatales goodies so you won’t have to scour the interwebs anymore.
