Bandai S.H. Figuarts Effects Coming in 2014

The Bluefin Tamashii Nations USA Facebook page has always got interesting pics, but these effects pieces look pretty interesting. I’ve known that Bandai has sold effects parts, like muzzle and jet blasts, for its Gundam figures, but these are the first items I’ve seen that look like they’re made for their S.H. Figuarts lines. They’ll look like they’d work great for the DragonBall Z figures, for example.

Hard to read the little signs, but it looks like they’ll be out early next year and retail for about $20 in Japan. I’d probably buy a few if they were about half that price. What about you?

I admit, I’m not a S.H. MonsterArts collector, but this video has got me close to the edge on Bandai’s Godzilla products. It’s a demo video of the articulation of King Ghidorah – a MonsterArts release from about this time last year. What’s mind-blowing about the video (created by Michal Shipman) is that it’s done fully in stop motion, making a very cool animated movie. King Ghidorah is still available at Amazon, but at almost 10 inches tall and packed to the scales with articulation, he comes in at $115 and change. But you do want Godzilla’s ultimate rival, right?

Incidentally, 2014 will be Godzilla’s 60th anniversary. Other than it being a comfort that there are still things that are older than me, I’m pretty excited to see what Bandai will do to celebrate that milestone.

NYCC 2013: Bandai S.H. FiguArts and MonsterArts

Bandai SH Figuarts and Monsterarts (1 of 42)

If I had a million dollars, I’d probably buy everything that was in the Bluefin booth showcasing Bandai’s action figure offerings. They produce such awesome toys, in particular with the S.H. FiguArts and MonsterArts lines – Godzilla, DragonBall Z, Power Rangers, Sailor Moon… and now Aliens vs. Predator, and even Batman?!

A week ago we got a more in depth look at the first figures from Bandai’s S.H. MonsterArts Aliens vs. Predators license – the Alien Warrior and the Predator Wolf. Now, courtesy of Bluefin, we’ve got high-res versions of the pics, plus the timing and cost for the U.S. releases.

The Alien Warrior is arriving first, next February, for $56.99. The Predator Wolf follows in March, for $58.99. I know that’s not cheap, but with the detail, articulation, and accessories, I think these could be a great value for this class of figure. What do you guys think?

Bandai Releases Details for S.H. MonsterArts Alien vs Predator Figures

SH MonsterArts Alien vs Predator 01

I saw these figures at San Diego Comic-Con, and was really impressed by the sculpt and deco on the prototypes there. The big question I had was how would these figures be articulated. It looks like these will raise the bar for action figures for these two franchises. I know the license is specific to the AVP franchise, but one can hope they’ll expand to get more.

The Alien is due in January 2014 and will stand at 6.6 inches tall. The Predator follows in February and is 7 inches tall. These figures won’t be cheap, but I think a lot of people will find them irresistible. We’ll see these figures again at New York Comic Con.
