DC Universe Classics Paint Masters up for Charity Auction

Before we get all caught up in Comic-Con madness, here’s an opportunity to land some one-of-a-kind collectibles from the Four Horsemen and Mattel. Six paint masters from the line are up for grabs in a set of auctions to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The auctions kick off tomorrow evening, right smack in the middle of Preview Night. It’s your chance to have your collection hobby do some good for others. Bid them up!

Mattel and Warner Bros. have teamed up with the Make-A-Wish foundation to offer a selection of DC Universe Classics paint master prototypes to the public. These prototypes will be up for auction from Wednesday, July 17th at 6pm PST until Saturday, July 27th at 5:59pm PST. The money earned from these auctions will go to Make-A-Wish, which grants wishes to children diagnosed with live-threatening medical conditions. This is a great opportunity to support a worthy cause, and also to own a unique collector’s item that has never been offered for sale to the general public.

The prototypes for sale include: Azrael Batman, Batman, Hawkman, Kilowog, Steel and Clone Superboy. Follow the link below to visit the auctions and make a difference in the life of a child with a severe illness.

Hot Toys Has Four More Reasons to Visit Sideshow at SDCC

I already love spending time at the Sideshow Collectibles booth at San Diego Comic-Con – it’s massive and chock full of 1/6 scale goodness. And even though it’s just a couple days away, Hot Toys is still driving up the pre-show hype with previews of some figures that will debut at the big show at Sideshow. We saw the Hot Toys Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile last year, and finally we’ll have an Adam West Batman and Burt Ward Robin to go with it.

Hot Toys teased the Iron Man Heartbreaker armor previously, but it’ll be nice to see it (and a ton of other Iron Men, I am sure) up close. And I had no idea they were doing Lone Ranger figure(s) – Johnny Depp’s Tonto is up first, and I can’t imagine that Armie Hammer’s Lone Ranger will follow soon.

I Can’t Believe San Diego Comic-Con is Almost Here!

I got this notice from Warner Bros. about their bags for Comic-Con. When you are picking up loot, whether it’s something you’re buying or promotional swag a booth babe is handing to you, you need someplace to put it as you walk the floor. You would not believe what a life-saver it is to get your hands on these huge backpack bags that they hand out as you enter the San Diego Convention Center.

Anyways, I am woefully unprepared for SDCC. I am wrapping up a family reunion this week – we try to get together at least once a year, usually during summer when all my nieces and nephews are out of school – and almost as soon as I get home, it’s back to the road for San Diego Comic-Con.

As usual, we’ll be providing updates directly from the show floor and during the evenings when we’re recuperating in our hotel rooms. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to our Youtube channel. And for updates as they’re happening, be sure to follow my AFPRon Instagram account.

Updates may be light at the start of next week, but it’ll pick up on Wednesday!
