Hot Toys knows how to keep me on the hook. With just a couple of weeks to go, they’ve finally revealed their Batman for The Dark Knight Rises, and in the same stroke teased us with Bane on top of a desert camo Tumbler.
Certainly we’ll see Bane before the movie opens – I’m wondering if we’ll get to see him in person at Sideshow’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con next week. I hope so!

I’m still waiting for Bane, but Hot Toys continues to tease the upcoming Batman figure for The Dark Knight Rises. The good news is that they’ve redesigned the suit as a fabric with armor plating – this should avoid some of the reported problems with the earlier Batman DX, like oily leaks and corrosion. I’d think that another plus of the fabric suit would be better poseability.
A great figure not only requires an accurate head sculpt, but also a full gear of outfit and accessories true to the original. After long development, we are excited to bring to fans our newly developed Batsuit of the DX Batman, featuring fabric costume with armor originally developed based on the costume design in The Dark Knight Rises movie!Batman fans, the most authentic Batman is arriving in the city very soon! And you thought the Hot Toys Tumbler (the re-release of which should arrive in August) was big? I have tried to avoid any clips or news about the movie, so I don’t have any idea if this behemoth of the Bat has been shown, but damn, that thing is going to be massive. Get ready to move one of the cars onto the street, because that’s going to take up one parking space on its own.
This thing is cool, but I’m still waiting for the reveals of Bane and Batman.

I’ve often joked that Mattel and the Four Horsemen created the DC Universe Classics line so they could make every character from the epic comic from Jim Starlin and Mike Mignola that is Cosmic Odyssey – but seeing all these figures together, spanning the entire life to-date of this toy line, you have to admit that I may be onto something. The very first wave of the line gave us Batman, Etrigan, and Orion. That’s THREE out of the five figures in the first wave, all from Cosmic Odyssey!
And in the very first year of the DC subscription, the club exclusive figure is Metron – the New God whose quest for knowledge about the Anti-Life equation serve as the catalyst for the events in Cosmic Odyssey. Admit it – you think I’m right!
Mezco has announced its summer exclusives, and I’m glad to see more DC Mez-Itz on their way. Headlining the announcements are a 20-inch Batman from the Dark Knight Nolan-verse and a 6-inch Wonder Woman. I will be picking WW up for sure. Rounding out the announcements are a Catwoman Mez-Itz keychain, Thundercats Mumm-Ra 2-pack, a quartet of Living Dead Dolls, and an Earthworm Jim exclusive that will be sure to please fans of the game.
