Marvel Avengers Assemble (Successor to Marvel Universe) In Stock at Amazon

Marvel Avengers Assemble Cosmic Strike Red Skull Figure Marvel Avengers Assemble Inferno Cannon Black Widow Figure Marvel Avengers Assemble Sky Attack Falcon Figure

The first wave of the new Marvel Avengers Assemble line is in stock now at Amazon. Avengers Assemble is the result of Hasbro’s brand refresh for the Marvel Universe line. It’s intended to match Marvel Universe in terms of sculpt, articulation, and paint, while making it more accessible for both retailers and kids – the line leverages the success of the Avengers movie, and includes accessories with action features.

I’d say the first wave is a fair example of what to expect. With the collector-oriented figures we see the sculpt and articulation we have grown to love in MU – for example, Falcon comes with rocker ankles, hip swivels, and double knees. The more heavily packed big hitters of Captain America, Iron Man, and Hulk are not as compelling. I think Hasbro knows it needs only appeal to the lowest common denominator with them, and aren’t trying as hard.

Sideshow Lists Exclusive Hot Toys Marvel and G.I. JOE Figures for Pre-Order

As the official distributor for Hot Toys in the US, Sideshow has access to exclusive figures and accessories that other retailers might not be able to carry. They’ve just listed two figures from Hot Toys’ “Toy Fairs” exclusives (figures that were shown and in some cases made available to order at various toy shows around the world) and two Iron Man 3 figures that each come with an exclusive accessory.

I have not yet seen Sideshow list the “evil” Superman figure from Superman III that Hot Toys had revealed with Star Spangled Cap and Joe Colton.

After 6 years running with the Marvel Universe brand, in 2014 Hasbro will be refreshing both its Marvel Universe and Marvel Legends lines. During the Hasbro Marvel panel, Hasbro revealed that next year, Marvel Universe will be rebranded to the Avengers, while Legends will be aligned with the Marvel movies during the year.

The Hasbro Marvel team revealed two of three movies that would carry the Legends line forward: Captain America and Spider-Man. Presumably the third will be Guardians of the Galaxy, although Hasbro is still staying mum.
