Jim Fletcher was kind enough to give us a tour of the DC Direct showroom today. For this update, I’ll focus on the action figure products, or what I think of as Blackest Night and “everything else.” I’ll be sure to post pictures of the other products, mostly statues and busts, within the next few days.
I am not sure if these four figures comprise an upcoming wave of Blackest Night figures from DC Direct. Arkillo and Black Lantern Hawkgirl had been previously announced for Wave 6, and I believe Hal Jordan was announced for Wave 7.
DC Prepares Next Blackest Night Toy Wave
Blockbuster series continues to spawn more figures.
To say Blackest Night has swept the industry would be a bit of an understatement. While DC’s collectibles line for the series had been fairly impressive, the overwhelming success of the event seems to be spawning more toys than originally anticipated.
Today DC is announcing four more figures to its arsenal: Blue Lantern Flash, Star Sapphire Wonder Woman, Black Lantern Hawkgirl and a new edition of Hal Jordan. These four figures will be on display at the 2010 Toy Fair. The show kicks off over the weekend, and we’ll have tons of pictures for you early next week.
First off I have to give Ron props. I loved his CustomCon 24 DC Universe Classics Earth 2 Customs and they (especially the Robin and Batman) were a big part of the inspiration for making this G.D. Batman. If you haven’t seen them, definitely check ’em out.
September of this year won’t see any new Blackest Night figures – could the onslaught be ending? – but we will see reissues of Indigo, Atrocitus, Earth-2 Superman, and Saint Walker. And, wow, an Arkham Asylum Batman statue in the Black and White line? It’s a start, but I really want to get some super-articulated action figures for the game.

Anyone questioning the popularity of Blackest Night and the Black Lanterns should rest assured that DC Direct is all over this event. Series 5 is all Black Lanterns, including the *gasp* Black Lantern Batman. I have yet to pick up any of the Black Lantern versions of my favorite heroes, but the alien members of the other Corps are going in my Green Lantern display. I didn’t pick up Mongul when he was originally released, but I may have to now that he’s decked out in his Sinestro Corps gear.
