Toy Guru has posted an update for Masters of the Universe Classics on Mattel’s Facebook page. Since it’s a long post, here’s a brief summary:
The line is doing well enough that we may see two MOTU Classics items on sale per month in 2010
They’ve found a lot of original MOTU material in the Mattel archives and will try to leverage it in the line
The He-Ro variant with the green spell stone will be the most common (red and purple less common), and figures sold at San Diego Comic-Con will have a tampo SDCC logo under his armor
Hordak’s on sale today, as well as the DC Universe Classics Alexander Luthor and Ultraman set
And some SDCC news – Battle Cat on Wednesday night, and more figures after their panel on Friday, and they’ll be selling subscriptions for 2010 on site
Just wanted to post a quick reminder that the Masters of the Universe Classics Hordak and the DC Universe Classics Alexander Luthor and Ultraman set will be on sale tomorrow, June 15, at 9AM PT. The increase in MOTU Classics quantities for Zodac helped keep him available longer, but I expect that with Hordak’s popularity, he’s going to sell out quickly. So don’t be late!

Here’s the latest round of Q&A with Mattel. Thanks again to Toy Guru!
1. With the upcoming DC Universe Classics 2-pack of Alexander Luthor and Ultraman, Mattel is showing that they can go pretty deep in terms of character selection. What are some of the DC team’s favorite characters that you think may never be able to make it into the line for whatever reason? Hopefully Jonah Hex isn’t on that list!
We are hoping to get to both obscure and A-list characters in time. If there is fan demand, the sky’s the limit.
It’s been a long wait for DC Universe Classics 8 for me. A lot of folks have been picking up DCUC on Amazon, since they started carrying the line again, and it seems like they had product in hand first this go-around. My pre-order with another online retailer finally came through, and it was worth the wait.
Mattel has published two DC-related updates on MattyCollector.com. First up, the DC Universe Classics 2-packs featuring Batman and Superman.
New Batman & Superman 2-packs in Stores August!
Hey Toy Fans,
Summer rocks. Days are longer, weather’s warmer, and a pair of new DCUC 2-packs arrives! Each pack holds a repaint of a classic hero paired with a villain figure in window box packaging. Check ’em out!
Features mud-spattered Batman for the first-time, facing off with the previously hard-to-find 2007 Clayface figure.
Includes the first-ever DCUC Superman with Heat Vision eyes, up against an all-new figure of Classic Brainiac!
You’ll find them at your local Toys ‘R Us, drug and grocery stores, and online in August. Stay tuned for more details as we get them…
Next up, a new 12-inch Joker from The Dark Knight. We saw this item at Toy Fair earlier in the year but wasn’t sure when it was going to show up. Now we know! Toys ‘R Us has the shipping date estimated as June 19.
