DC Universe Classics Swamp Thing Articulation Pics

Mattel has updated their Facebook page with pics of the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Swamp Thing, showing its articulation.

I think these show that range of motion will be hampered by the outer skin. I’d still like to know if there will be any underlying swivels, like in the biceps, wrists, and thighs – but I’m guessing even if those points of articulation are there, they won’t be much use. I think I would have preferred they gone with a more standard approach to this figure.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 5/1/11

Ok, we’re a few days behind for the latest Ask Matty Q&A, and these were from WonderCon. Thanks to the Mattel team for these answers.

1) Hurricane Hordak looks like a great quarterly bonus figure for Masters of the Universe Classics. Will his arm attachments be compatible with those from Roboto and Trap Jaw? What was the rationale behind including the dial on his back?

Yes, as announced at Wonder Con his attachments will indeed work like Trap Jaw or Roboto incase we ever want to do some re-decos down the road for a Weapon Pak.

CFP – DC Universe Classics JSA/JLA Indiscretions

What’s Friday without another installment of CaptionFigurePics.com?

Ron’s been a little swamped with a lot of non-toy work and it’s been too long since the last CFP, so I thought I’d pitch in and help out this week.

Mattel Reveals San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives – G4TV.com

Just like last year, Mattel revealed a few of their San Diego Comic-Con exclusives on Attack of the Show last night. Highlighted were:

  • Green Lantern Movie Kilowog – $30 – will be first available at SDCC
  • DC Universe Classics Swamp Thing featuring exoskeletal articulation (rubber skin over an articulated frame) – $30 – like Gleek and the Starro face-huggers, Swampy’s Un-Men will be exclusive to SDCC
  • Voltron 6-inch super-articulated – $30 – will come with both versions of his sword and packaging will feature a sound chip that plays the full Voltron opening theme
  • Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Man with packaging diorama – $70 – this thing looks massive, maybe 18-inches tall

While they didn’t highlight any Masters of the Universe Classics items, keen-eyed observers may have spotted what looks like a space-suited Queen Marlena with interchangeable heads and dress, with a Cringer slug figure. Check that out at 37 seconds into the video.
