DC Universe Classics Wave 16 Riddler, Jonah Hex, and Robin

Time to put up some DC Universe Classics 16 pics! If you hadn’t heard or seen it yet, DCUC 16 is starting to hit retail stores now. I found my little set of 3 at Target last week.

Why only 3? Several reasons. For one, due to rising costs and shrinking shelf space, I need to be a bit more discriminating in my collecting and the Metal Men are getting cut, so no Mercury. When Creeper was first announced, I was excited about getting him but I don’t like how he turned out, way too skinny and gangly for my taste, so no Creeper. Golden Age Head Robin didn’t even enter the equation from the word go. The design for the C&C Bane was also not to my liking. I will be getting Azrael-Batman but he is coming from a friend in another town and I hope to find the All Star Reissue of Deathstroke or maybe Amazon will finally come through for me. I’ll do an article for both of those when I have ’em.

I keep hearing about price increases at retail for Mattel DC figures, but here’s some good news – Green Lantern Classics Wave 1 has just turned up in stock at Amazon, and they’re holding steady at $14.99. And they qualify for free shipping if your order is $25 or more. With no sales tax in most locations, that’s a tough deal to beat.

Happy shopping!

I was psyched to get an armful of figures from Mattel after their collector event on Sunday, including a nearly complete set of Green Lantern Classics Wave 2. These all had stickers on the back of the package labeled “PI” – I think that might indicate some product imperfections. But I’m not complaining at all – the only thing I noticed was on Nite-Lik – he does not have a Red Lantern logo on his chest underneath the head piece, so he won’t be able to be displayed as Skallox.

With DC Universe Classics and Green Lantern Classics covered, there’s still a lot to be covered in the DC Comics brand. I’ll cover the remaining lines, with the exception of the Green Lantern movie toys, in this article.

Toy Fair 2011 – Mattel DC Universe Classics and Green Lantern Classics Report

Crime Syndicate box set (1280x854).jpg

Mattel managed to wow me with their DC Universe Classics on display at Toy Fair yesterday, despite the persistent leaks of upcoming waves of figures in the main line. There have been broadly discussed rumors that wave 17 of DC Universe Classics would consist of the Rainbow Deputies in Blackest Night, and more recently the focus had been on wave 18 being made up mostly of the remaining SuperFriends, Black Vulcan, Samurai, El Dorado, and Apache Chief. And yes – it was all confirmed yesterday.
