Masters of the Universe Classics Count Marzo and Whiplash Headline Mattel July and August Sales Dates

After a couple of really busy and frustrating months on MattyCollector.com, at least July will be a bit easier. Just two items – Count Marzo, who may be a character not as hotly demanded, and DC Universe Classics wave 13. This will be the final test for DCUC sets online – so far based on Mattel’s comments, it’s been a mixed bag in terms of performance.

DC Universe Classics Undersea Assault Two-Pack Quick Pics

I wasn’t going to buy this set but I stopped in the only DC Universe Classics stocking Wal-Mart a couple days ago and discovered that, due a reset of the Toy Department, all of the DCUC stock had been moved to a clearance aisle and for $15, I couldn’t pass it up. Overall the quality of the set is very good. Manta’s gun was slightly bent up and Aquaman’s right leg was a little warped at the knee joint (easily fixed with a session under the hair dryer and cold water tap) but otherwise they are well made with no problems or defects.

Shelf Life Video Teaser

If you’re a reader of the Fwoosh, you may have come across an old thread about the DC Universe Classics New Gods that took on a new life. Turns out the participants were just delivering lines for use in a stop-motion video using DC action figures called “Shelf Life.” How that dialogue is going to be used is yet to be seen, but one of the creators, Fwoosher TheGDBatman, has posted a neat-looking video teaser for his project.

First Look – DC Universe Classics SDCC 2010 Plastic Man – TheFwoosh.com

There’s been a lot of Mattel news in the past week and a half that started with the announcement that Mattel landed the Voltron license for the upcoming animated series. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the extremely awesome first look that VeeBee posted on the Fwoosh of the upcoming DC Universe Classics Plastic Man a few days back.

To be perfectly honest, I’m not exactly a big fan of Plas – primarily because when I was first exposed to him, all I really wanted in comics was dark, brooding, angsty stuff. But I do think that this figure delivers all that it possibly could. I’ll definitely be picking him up.

DC Universe Classics Wave 14 Packaged Pics

Seeing these packaged pics of DC Universe Classics Wave 14 reminds me that there won’t be a lot of rest before this Wal-Mart exclusive wave hits stores. With no Wal-Marts within 45 minutes, I’ll probably be relying on the kindness of fellow collectors to get my hands on this wave of figures – so when you find these babies, help a brother out! 🙂

These all look great, but I’m digging Zatanna the most thus far. You can see the pics of the Wave 14 two-ups and Collect & Connect Ultra-Humanite from back when Mattel posted their updates on DC Universe Classics Waves 13 and 14 on their Facebook page.
