Don’t Miss the Fwoosh DC Universe Classics March Madness Tourney Round 2

It’s Round 2! Vote for your favorite DC Universe Classics figures and help determine who comes out on top of the first Fwoosh DC Universe Classics March Madness tournament! The toughest choice for me was Hawkman vs. Deadshot, and I’m rooting for Wildcat over Wonder Woman.

The Madness continues after a first round filled with predictables, cinderellas, blow-outs close calls and everything in between. It is now time to to turn your attention to those that survived, and the match-ups are becoming more intense. 128 figures entered and we have cut the field in half, but there is still a long way to go until we crown the King (or Queen) of DCUC!

The routine is the same as before, we will trudge on through the same regions and we have separate voting sites for each. Follow the links below to vote in each region after you check out the current standing the entire bracket!

DC Universe Classics Glow In The Dark Action + Dynamic Lighting = Drama!

So here we are, stuck in what seems like an abnormally long (especially considering how close together DCUC 10, 11 and 12 shipped) lull between DCUC Waves. Oh how the minutes tick so lowly by… In an attempt to kill some time, I thought I’d take a whack at photographing the 2 DC Universe Classics Glow in the Dark ghosties, the Spectre and Deadman, to try to show off their unique properties. I didn’t really catch the GitD effect, but I did (with a little help from PhotoShop) end up with some very dramatically lit pics.

DC Universe Classics Wal-Mart Wave 5 On Sale On MattyCollector.com in May

This is great news for those of you who were not able to complete the elusive DC Universe Classics Wal-Mart wave 5 from 2 years ago. The wave will be sold as a set of all five figures, including the parts to build the Metallo Collect & Connect figure, on the MattyCollector.com sales date on May 17th.

With the Masters of the Universe Classics Optikk and Tytus (the second over-sized figure for the year), Ghostbusters Walter Peck, and The Dark Knight Two-Face, that is shaping up to be a crazy sales date.

DCU Wave 5 Is Alive!

DCU Fans,

Back in 2008, we released Wave 5, which was an instant success and subsequently pretty hard to find. If you missed your chance, mark May 17th on your calendar, because Wave 5 is coming back!

This release is identical to the one in 2008 − same package, same decos, not a single change to the figures. Like all our boxed sets, these are individually carded figures packed into a single box. The set has the five figures you need to build a 9” Collect and Connect™ Metallo figure. Take a look inside and you’ll find these classic characters ready to rock your collection:

  • Eradicator
  • Black Lightning
  • Amazo
  • The Riddler
  • The Atom

Don’t want to miss your shot at this fan-favorite? If you’re not registered yet for emails, and I’ll send you a reminder. You can also follow me on Twitter where I post reminders.

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 3/15/10

Here’s the latest Ask Matty Q&A. Thanks to Toy Guru and Mattel!

1. With Guy Gardner coming soon in the Green Lantern 5-pack, it dawned on me – we’re pretty darned close to having the core team members from the JLI. I won’t ask about our favorite Oreo-craving Martian, but will it be more difficult to get Fire and Ice in a regular Collect and Connect assortment because they’re female and not that active in today’s comics? And since Black Canary has seen a more classic release recently, is her JLI look off the table for the foreseeable future?

We’d love to get to all the figures and in the deco you mentioned. All are possible candidates but we can’t comment on unannounced figures!
