DC Universe Online may be coming out early next year, now, but damn it, we’re still totally psyched for it! And you will be too once you peep our super-sweet cover featuring DC Direct’s statues based on the game. But inside the issue…ah, that’s where the good stuff is.

  • We interview DC co-honcho (and comic book legend, and DCUO Executive Creative Director) Jim Lee about the MMO, the statues, and his seeeecret character.
  • Take a look at digital sculpting and 3-D printing – the technologies that could change the toy industry forever! (And maybe even make YOU the next toy-making star!)
  • Learn about toys from the original Multiplayer Offline RPG with our retro look at Advanced Dungeons & Dragons toys from LJN.
  • A new story begins in Twisted ToyFare Theatre! Skeletor has a simple plan to get He-Man to reveal his identity…and it involves taking him into a dream inside a dream inside another dream! What could possibly go wrong? Find out in Part 1 of “Inceptors of the Universe”!
  • Over in Incoming, we’ve got your first look at the latest Mattel Movie Masters figure, plus more toys from Hasbro, NECA, Diamond and the (maybe not-so) shocking results of our DC Universe Classics Fan Poll!

Plus, we pay tribute to our amazing friend, and the toy industry’s most prodigious and amazing prototype painter, the late, great Eddie Wires.

DC Universe Classics Wave 15 Jack Knight Starman

DCUC15-Starman-JK 004.jpg

DC Universe Classics Wave 15 is finally, slowly trickling in (check out Sandman’s quick pics of Raven)! I just checked my back order with Amazon and saw that part of it is “being processed for shipment”, so I’m salivating like Pavlov’s dog. My good friend, PeanutButterJellyMan recently picked up a Jack Knight Starman variant from an Amazon seller and then a few days later, got the one he’d forgotten he had pre-ordered from BBTS. Since PBJMan had an extra, he sent one to me to use as a little appetizer for the oncoming flood of DCUC 15. Much thanks, Bro!

DC Universe Classics Wave 15 Raven Quick Pics

DSCN8950_2.JPG

Hey y’all, here’s some Quick Pics of Raven from DC Universe Classics Wave 15. I couldn’t resist picking her up at my local comic book store. It was either her or the Martian. Ladies first, so I picked her up! She is awesome! I thought I would be bothered by her cape sculpt, but I actually like it!

New York Comic Con 2010 – DC Direct

Batman Incorporated 01 (1198x1200).jpg

If anyone is concerned about DC Direct after the DC “bi-coastal realignment strategy” announcement, they’re still in the business of making action figures. There was quite a bit of new figures to be seen, including Batman Incorporated (above), new Brightest Day figures, Justice League Classic Icons, and more.

Mattel Reveals Green Lantern Classics Wave 2

Mattel is not present at New York Comic Con – since they moved the show permanently to October, it conflicts with most companies’ planning for Fall Toy Fair. But that didn’t stop them from releasing these images of two-ups for Green Lantern Classics wave 2. We’d been told previously that the Red Lanterns from this wave, revealed as Skallox and a newly-named Night Lik, will come in one package with interchangeable parts. We’ll find out it B’dg, Dex-Starr, and Despotellis will come as pack-ins or as a 3-pack.

Toy Guru must be thrilled – with the Eternian Palace Guard from Masters of the Universe Classics, the Red Lantern Night Lik will be the second time he’s being immortalized in plastic – his last name is Neitlich, coincidentally! 🙂
