AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 12/16/9 – Redux

Toy Guru was kind enough to resend answers that were lost in the cloud – well, at least 4 out of 5 of them! 😀

1. We were glad to hear that sales of the DC Universe Classics Color of Fear 2-pack were strong. Were they strong enough for you to consider additional multi-packs via MattyCollector.com? If not, what are you thinking about for exclusive DCUC product on MattyCollector.com?

Unfortunately none of the DCUC 2 packs performed well enough to keep the assortment going in 2010. We are looking at other ways of bringing DCUC figures to Mattycollector.com, but there will not be any additional 2 packs at this time.

Last Toys R Us Free Shipping Promotion of the Year – 12/17 Only

Just got an email – Toys R Us is having their last free shipping promotion of the year, today, 12/17 only.

Toys R Us

I took a quick look, and there’s a big mix of stuff that you might want to pick up if you skipped it earlier. For example, they have the Sue and Johnny Storm Marvel Legends 2-pack, the Giants of Justice Flash (also on sale), and a bunch of Joes and Marvel Universe figures in the action figure section their free shipping store. Some of the stuff is already out of stock, like the UFC figures, so you might want to check this out early.

The free shipping store goes away at the end of today. Happy Shopping!

AFP Ask Matty Round-Up for 12/16/9

It looks as though the answers to our questions for this round may have been lost in the cloud, so if my colleagues will indulge me, I’ll pick five of the best questions and answers from around the internet toy community.

The first answer may not have been that informative, but it had Jitsu. 😀

1. Figures.com – The Four Horsemen did a fantastic job with the Jitsu 200X staction. Is this character on tap for the near future or do fans have a long wait ahead of them?

We can’t comment on unannounced figures, sorry! Jitsu is a favorite around here too.

DC Universe Classics Wave 13 Retailer Pics

These pictures come from BigBadToyStore, where they have just listed pre-orders for individual figures from DC Universe Classics Wave 13 mostly for $16.99 each.  Based on how these are priced, I consider this another confirmation that the unbandaged variant of Negative Man will be a chase figure (he’s the only one listed for more at $19.99), and that the classic and modern Cheetah variants will be packed 50/50.  Fans of the modern Cheetah, unfortunately she’s already pre-sold out.

BBTS also has several sets available for pre-order, and Enchanted Toy Chest has a set of 8 up for pre-order.

DC Universe Classics Custom Earth 2 Superman, Batman, Hawkman, and Robin

Earth 2 - Robin, Batman, Superman, and Hawkman

CustomCon 24 was great this past week (and I’m not just saying that because it was hosted at the Fwoosh and put together by me :D) – the customizing world continues to grow and become more talented.  I was happy to participate in the DC Universe Classics Justice Society of America entry by the guys on the Fwoosh staff, with my renditions of four of the original superheroes who formed the Justice Society on Earth 2.

I hadn’t planned on making all four of these.  Robin was the catalyst, and I’ve wanted to convert a Detective Batman from DCUC Wave 1 ever since he was released a couple years ago.  A lot of people find the costume corny, but I’ve loved it since first seeing it back in Justice League of America #91 and #92.  That’s nostalgia for you!

And before I get too far into this, my recipe for Robin is pretty much the same as Iron Cow’s, without the belt swap.  I daresay I was toying with the idea before he made his wonderful Earth 2 Robin v2, but acknowledge him as the far superior craftsman.  And credit for Bats goes to Josh Izzo, who was the first I saw use that particular DC Direct head on a DCUC kitbash for his Silver Age Batman.
