Masters of the Universe Classics Ram Man *Not* for Sale Today

MattyCollector 1-15 Sale

Missing something? If you did not sign up for Club Eternia for 2013 and were hoping to snag the sure-to-be-an-instant-sell-out Masters of the Universe Classics Ram Man today, save your F5 button for another month – Ram Man is delayed. I suppose we should have expected it. After all, our friend Logistics has struck the MOTUC line for four months running now. Maybe it’s time for Mattel to just acknowledge that they’re off by a month now and adjust the schedule accordingly – at least before the next line-up announcement at Toy Fair next month.

What’s left is somewhat tepid sales day in Ram Man’s absence. We’ve got Princess of Power Netossa for Club Eternia, Blue Lantern Saint Walker for Club Infinite Earths, and… hold on, Rorschach is here to save the day for Club Black Freighter (do you mind if I just call it the Watchmen sub from now on?) So, maybe January isn’t so bad after all! Hurm.

For your convenience, here’s the MattyCollector bundle page for January. And if you are a subscriber, here’s the login page for subscriptions. Early access is also available through the top navigation there. Inexplicably, it’s not linked anywhere on the regular MattyCollector page.

Mattel Reveals Club Black Freighter Watchmen Packaging and Masters of the Universe Classics Snake Face – Video

Watchmen Club Black Freighter Packaging

Rorschach from the DC Comics Watchmen is coming our way on MattyCollector’s January 15 sale as part of the Club Black Freighter subscription, and Toy Guru has just revealed the packaging for it. I think it looks pretty slick, with an outer slip cover and a book-style inner package that looks relatively more friendly for folks who like to play with their action figures and keep the packaging too.

TG also previewed the Masters of the Universe Classics Snake Face, the Snake Man who is scheduled to arrive in April this year. Check out the video for Rorschach and Snake Face, as well as pics of Rorschach and the additional card inserts from his upcoming sales page.

AFP’s Best of 2012 – Sandman’s Picks

Happy New Year everyone! Well, 2012 has come and gone, and like every year, Ron has asked us to pick our own Best of 2012!

I have to say, 2012 was a tough year for toy collecting for me. With prices going up across the board and my wife and I having our first baby this past July, the budget for toys had to be trimmed down. It didn’t help that there were so many awesome toys that came out during this year! Of the toys that I did manage to get, here’s my Top 5 for 2012!

#5 ThreeA Zombs

These guys were actually available for pre-order from ThreeA in November 2011, but since they came out in 2012 they’re on this list! They’re super articulated zombies with different head sculpts and uniforms and they were a hoot to play with! I wish I had an army of these! I also wish I had gotten one of those War Zombs!

Border Patrol: Marvel Legends Deadpool, DC Universe Classics Nightwing, and Transformers Hercules

In AFP’s Border Patrol, we scour active eBay auctions for customized action figures that you won’t want to let slip by!

Deadpool 1Deadpool 2Deadpool 3

Marvel Legends Deadpool by Raybot – just like hockey teams alter their jerseys every season (at least, when they aren’t locked out), the comic companies love to change their characters’ costumes – when it results in a custom like Raybot’s Marvel Now Deadpool, I complain just a little bit less than usual – ends Jan 06, 2013 17:30:05 PST

DC Universe Classics and Young Justice Among 112 Action Figures in Year-End Sale at Entertainment Earth

Entertainment Earth Year End Sale

The results are in – the Wall Street Journal says, “The annual holiday shop-a-thon drew to a muted close for many retailers, according to preliminary data, reflecting what some experts said was the slowest growth in spending since the 2008 recession.” While it’s not great news for the economy, it does mean that we should see continued sales to close out the year.

Case in point – Entertainment Earth is touting their Year-End Sale, with discounts up to 90%. I saw DC Universe Classics figures for just over $5 and Young Justice between $11 and $13. In total, they’ve got 112 action figures on sale, and a bunch of stuff in other categories too, for a total of 735 items being put on clearance.

Happy holidays, and happy shopping!
