Diamond Select Toys Avengers Movie – Marvel Select Hulk and Minimates

You might think that the price point on the Hot Toys Avengers movie figures is a little too rich for your blood. Or maybe you want something to satisfy that Avengers craving *today*. If so, DST has a couple of new releases on shelves now.

I’m thinking that the Marvel Select Hulk could capture Mark Ruffalo’s likeness a little better, but I don’t really mind. This Hulk has an ab tilt and swivel, two fists, bicep swivels, and DC Universe Classics hips. Innovation is allowing DST to cram more functional points of articulation into the limit prescribed by their license. Kudos to the designers!

And if you’re looking to army build a Chitauri invasion force, Minimates might be the way to go. Might also be the only way to get a movie Maria Hill figure.

Diamond Select Toys Battle Beasts Vorin – Breakdown and Thoughts

If you’ve been paying any attention over the last week, the internet has kind of exploded over Battle Beasts. Diamond Select Toys had their big unveiling at C2E2 last weekend (see our coverage here) and many people had differing thoughts regarding the line, me included. Then to cap off DST’s reveals, this week Takara/TOMY unveiled their new Beast Fight! line, which in many opinions is what fans had hoped DST’s line would be. So what’s all the fuss over DST’s version of the Beasts who Battle? Let’s discuss.

C2E2 2012 – Diamond Select Battle Beasts Minimates Exclusive

Diamond Select Toys and IDW are promoting their Battle Beasts collaboration with an exclusive Battle Beasts Minimate. DST will reveal the first full wave of the Battle Beasts Minimates at San Diego Comic-Con later this year. They should be available in stores this fall. In parallel, IDW will launch a Battle Beasts comic book miniseries, also at San Diego Comic-Con.

CC30: Minimates – Crayonmates by Jeff Boyd

Each Crayonmate is made from a repainted Minimate, with a new custom crayon tip made from Magic Sculpt added to their heads. Their colors were carefully blended to match actual crayons. The Crayonmates then got water-transfer decal stripes for the final crayon-like touch.
