Action Figure Xpress Exclusive X-Men Minimates Four-Packs

Marvel Minimates X-Factor

Action Figure Express has two sets of X-Men Minimates on the way.  Each set will feature four of the original X-Men, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, and Beast – in their X-Factor and first appearance costumes.  You can pick up the fifth member, Angel, in his X-Factor costume in a Toys R Us two-pack with Warpath.  I’m not sure if there’s been a first appearance Angel announced.

The four-packs are due to arrive in December, and are available for pre-order now.

Iron Man 2 Marvel Select and Marvel Minimates Coming March 2010

The design for the new Iron Man movie for next year’s sure thing blockbuster is so secretive that Diamond Select Toys can’t show you anything but Tony Stark’s pretty face.  The Marvel Select figure will feature a flip up faceplate.  No more details on the Minimates yet, but I’d expect at least one full series (like they did for the first Iron Man movie) and a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive set.

DST & Iron Man 2 Blast Off!

The biggest Super Hero movie of 2010 is fast approaching and will thrill fans with high-tech armor, covert government operations, one supremely angry Russian and, we are excited to announce, Diamond Select Toys! Maryland based Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles, LLC has secured a license from Marvel Entertainment to produce collectible action figures and Minimates based on the summer’s surefire blockbuster hit, Marvel’s Iron Man 2!

Diamond Select Toys will bring the Iron Man 2 property to their most successful toy lines, recruiting top industry talent including Gentle Giant for the seven-inch collector-driven Marvel Select action figure line and design-house Art Asylum for the unstoppable Marvel Minimates series of two-inch articulated block figures. Both lines will see releases beginning in March of 2010 and continuing through the summer convention season, including exclusive partnerships with national toy retailer Toys “R” Us and online powerhouse Action Figure Xpress.com.

“After Marvel’s Iron Man 2008 feature film increased the global awareness of this powerful brand and our continued success with both the Marvel Select and Marvel Minimates lines, securing the rights to Iron Man 2 toys was a very easy decision for us,” commented Diamond Select Toys Director, Chuck Terceira. “We’re all huge fans of the first Iron Man film and we’re very much looking forward to highlighting both the comic and movie characters from the Iron Man universe over the next year.”

Hot on the heels of the $585-million-generating Iron Man film, the action-packed sequel will hit theaters on May 7th of 2010 and catches up with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark six months after the events of his big-screen debut. Iron Man 2 also stars Mickey Rourke as the devilish Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson as the seductive and deadly Black Widow, Don Cheadle’s War Machine debut and Samuel L Jackson, reprising his role as the world’s number one spy, Nick Fury.

Superman Batman Public Enemies Wave 2 Update

I have the first wave of the Target exclusive Superman Batman: Public Enemies 6-inch figures, sans Silver Banshee.  She still eludes me, so I’ve yet to open the rest.  I have a feeling that Major Force will be the tough one to get in Wave 2, and I’m not so in need of Brimstone that I’ll miss him if I don’t get all the pieces.  If it ends up like that, then these will go back to the store.

Since Mattel doesn’t have samples yet, I’m guessing we may not see Wave 2 until December.

Where’s my Brimstone?

A lot of fans have posted asking about the remaining pieces of Brimstone. They will be available with Wave 2 figures shipping to Target later this year. This set will include Black Lightning and Major Force, as well as repaints of Batman in blue and gray and Superman in a more metallic deco. The repaints will include the same Collect and Connect pieces as their Wave 1 decos.

We haven’t received samples yet, but we will post package images as soon as we can.

Will Your Local Wal-Mart Carry DC Universe Classics Wave 10?

If you are having problems finding DC Universe Classics wave 10, the second Wal-Mart exclusive wave, here’s a little help.  Pendragon’s Post has published a list of the roughly 3,000 Wal-Mart stores that have action figure sales high enough to warrant selling wave 10.  Please note that this isn’t a list of stores that have them in stock – just a list of the stores that are eligible to carry it.

The list is published in image format (51 images total), but it’s sorted alphabetically by state, so that should help you narrow it down.  California residents – our stores are listed on pages 4 – 7.

Pendragon also posted some notes from his conversation with a Wal-Mart PR representative about DCUC 10.  Good stuff!

On Wave 5, Walmart only had it in 1,800 of their stores. At least this time, it doubled to 3,000 stores, but still not great.

So I made a call to Walmart and spoke to Melissa O’Brien, Senior Manager PR & Brand Reputation for Walmart. This is what she told me:

  • DC Universe is hard to keep in stock because it does sell out quickly. They do realize this is a popular item and it why they increased the order from 1,800 stores to 3,000 store. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t tell me the exact number ordered.
  • They are considered a collectible and not a standard toy like GI Joe or Transfromers, and that makes for smaller purchasing amounts for DCUC.
  • They determine with stores get Wave 10, by the total number of sales in each store. The higher the overall action figures sales are, the greater the chance that store will get DCUC.
  • They do not want to put them on-line because they feel that this would be unfair to collectors. Walmart feels by selling DCUC in stores, the collectors have a better chance of finding them.
  • Walmart doesn’t always know the exact date of a shipment, and since DCUC are more limited in manufacture, they may not come in as often as other Mattel items.
  • If you can not find them, to contact your local store (see the list below). New toy stock usually arrives on Tuesdays and Wedsdays.
