SDCC 2014: Diamond Select Toys Announces Days of Future Past Marvel Minimates Exclusives and More

Banking on the success of Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past hit movie, Diamond Select Toys have announced a comics-based Marvel Minimates boxed set for San Diego Comic-Con, featuring Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Mystique and a Sentinel. Great choices to tie in to the movie, but I don’t recall Mystique featuring prominently at all in the comic event – but then again she wasn’t being played by J-Law back then and like Wolverine, my memories can’t be trusted. DST is also making an accompanying comic book cover recreating Uncanny X-Men #141, available separately, featuring the Marvel Minimates in place of the comic book characters.

There usually are more Marvel Minimates exclusives during SDCC, and perhaps there are still more to come through DST’s distribution partners. DST also announced a Walking Dead Minimates set, a Sin City Marv exclusive figure, and more from Star Trek, Star Wars, Godzilla, and Jay and Silent Bob.  Just over a month to go. Are you getting excited yet for SDCC?

Pre-Orders Reveal X-Men Legends Jubilee Wave as Previews Exclusive

Previews Exclusive X-Men Marvel Legends

New pre-order listings at Entertainment Earth and BigBadToyStore have revealed an upcoming X-Men Marvel Legends wave as a Previews exclusive. This five figure wave features Wolverine, Magneto, Storm, Stryfe, Cyclops, with a  Build-a-Figure Jubilee. First revealed a few weeks back in a Japanese magazine, this wave had been widely reported as a Toys R Us exclusive. With these listings, however, it appears that the X-Men will go the same route as the Wolverine Legends wave. As Previews exclusives, these will set you back – $179.99 for a case from Entertainment Earth and BBTS – $22.50 a figure. BBTS has a 5-figure set for $149.99 – a whopping $30 a figure.

It’s great to see the mini-BAF Jubilee that we first saw at San Diego Comic-Con last year and the Stryfe figure teased by the Hasbro Marvel team way back when finally make their way to shelves – but I will be missing the other figures that had been shown as part of the Jubilee wave. With themed waves being the norm now, it’s a challenge to see how those figures will get released.

ThreeA Toys Adventure Kartel Panda Mercs Up for Pre-Order Today

3A Toys Adventure Kartel Panda Mercs 1

We reported earlier today about Threezero’s Tyrion Lannister pre-order, but sibling company 3A Toys has also got a pre-order, going up later today. You can pre-order their Adventure Kartel Panda Mercs starting at 6PM PST at Bambaland. There’s a single, the Handsome Wu merc, for $140, or a 2-pack featuring Wu and F-Legion 6023  for $250 – although some people are speculating about the “Three Fat Tarts” title for the 2-pack.

3A originally planned to have this be the fourth of four AKLUB sets needed to get an exclusive MS Shadow, but reverted to an older plan to make the fourth set with the Zomb MD in a couple of months. So the Pandas are an independent release, with no ties to the AKLUB prereqs.

Hasbro Announces Star Wars Black Series Yoda and Shares More Jabba Pics

Hope you had a great Star Wars Day yesterday! To celebrate May the Fourth (be with you), Hasbro revealed the next figure to join their Star Wars Black Series 6-inch line – none other than Jedi Master Yoda himself. And to show you that size matters not, this morning they revealed the final press shots of their San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Jabba the Hutt Throne Room Set.

Hasbro’s Star Wars presentation at Toy Fair closing out with Salacious Crumb’s laughter was indeed a hint at what is to come. The SDCC Jabba set will include an in-scale Salacious Crumb, and will also include Jabba’s hookah and the railing on which it rests. The packaging completes the effect – it opens to reveal Jabba on a raised platform with throne room backdrop, while the front flap lays flat, with trap door to the rancor printed on it. Judge them by their size, will you?

One of the perks of getting the NYCC exclusive was a personalized SHIELD ID card – all you had to do was send in your picture and your name / vital stats and BAM, SHIELD agent with a card to prove it. Now Cafepress has gone even further – they are offering a customized SHIELD ID card for free as a promotion for Captain America: The Winter Soldier! Or, nearly free, as it were. This version of the SHIELD ID has a red border, while the ID cards featured on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show are gold. But that doesn’t matter to you, right? I mean, free is free! Today’s a great day to pick one up – Cafepress is also running promotions this weekend on all their customized gear. Now if only someone would produce customized HYDRA ID cards, I’d be set.
