STGCC: The Falcon’s Hangar Exclusive Bandai Mumm-Ra as Lion-O

This Bandai exclusive Lion-O from Singapore retailer The Falcon’s Hangar has been making the rounds. For those of you wondering, this is from a Thundercats episode entitled “Fond Memories” in which Mumm-Ra transforms himself into a doppelganger of Lion-O… and then they fight! Sorry, Mumm-Ra, but Faker came first!

No word yet if this exclusive will somehow find its way beyond STGCC, but it’s likely the only way TCats fans will be able to get their hands on an official Mumm-Ra in the 8-inch scale, even if it really is just a redecoed Lion-O.

SDCC 2012: Mezco Exclusive DC Universe Mez-Itz Wonder Woman

The DC Universe 6-inch Wonder Woman Mez-Itz was the Mezco exclusive from San Diego Comic-Con that I was looking forward to the most. After all, it’s been all testosterone since Mezco launched the line with Batman and Joker a few years back, so Diana is the first female and final member of DC’s Big Three to join this awesome vinyl line.

Pop Culture Shock Reveals Street Fighter Sagat and ThunderCats Tygra Statues

Pop Culture Shock’s Jerry Macaluso sure has a way of making me want to plunk down a whole wad of cash on these statues from Street Fighter and ThunderCats. But as these are wayyyy out of my price range, all I can do is feel nostalgic about the heyday of SOTA’s Street Fighter action figure line and feel a bit letdown that Bandai’s ThunderCats line didn’t really deliver on the classics front, despite releasing Tygra (it missed the mark for me.)

Both of these statues are in 1/4 scale, and will be available through Sideshow Toys and specialty retailers.

DC Universe Classics Legion of Doom

I’ll admit that when I was a kid watching reruns of the Hanna Barbera Super Friends cartoon, I never really gave any thought to the Legion of Doom. For me, it was all about the Super Friends. The bad guys just existed to give the good guys a reason to display their heroics – and in hindsight that may have been the basis for the show to begin with.

Growing up with these characters in comics, cartoons, and movies, it slowly started to change. The bad guys became more interesting. I started understanding their motivations, and even started rooting for them. DC Universe Classics, with an assist from its predecessor DC Super Heroes, has let me reassemble the Legion of Doom in plastic form. Stack them up against the DC Universe Classics Super Friends, and tell me you don’t want the bad guys to win!
