Since it’s an industry show, Toy Fair typically isn’t a time that you’d normally be picking up new action figures for your collection – it’s the time you’ll be seeing and hearing about the toys that you will be picking up later in the year.

But at Toypocalypse, the Four Horsemen have made available 100 sets of an exclusive Dark and Light variant set of their upcoming Gothitropolis Scarabus figure. They’re available for $50 each (so, $100 for a set of the black and white figures), and come in resealable packaging. I didn’t get the chance to find out what will be different about the 100 sets that will be available through storehorsemen.com after the show, but one thing that got my attention on the sets from the show are the black and white scarabs on the front of the package.

I haven’t been able to bring myself to open them yet. I mean – right now they’re so pristine! I’ll need some convincing… Leave a comment below.

What an awesome way to start off Toy Fair – with Toypocalypse, an art show held at Toy Tokyo, featuring 10 years of action figure goodness from the Four Horsemen. The show opened tonight and will run through next Thursday, but I felt compelled to go tonight, before the craziness of Toy Fair began.

The show space was packed full of 4H fans – but the really overwhelming part was just seeing all the toys that the 4H have had a big hand in getting to our shelves. One section of the show space was dedicated to a “making of” section for the next figure that will be gracing our shelves – the Fantastic Exclusive Gothitropolis Scarabus.

Fantastic Exclusive Gothitropolis Scarabus Paint Sample Recap

We just got the first Scarabus paint sample in the other day, and we’re so excited about it we couldn’t wait to share it with you!
There are a couple of minor paint tweaks to be taken care of, but for their first pass we’re extremely impressed!

I was hoping for more Scarabus shots from the Four Horsemen for a their Four Horsemen Fridays feature, but I’m guessing they’re very busy getting ready for their Toypocalypse show, which starts this upcoming Friday.

I believe the last shot in this set is of a painted 2-up prototype that they used in a recent photo shoot. It’s pretty cool to see how the smaller figure is matching up with its 2-up. I always expect the production figures to be a downgrade in quality – I haven’t seen that with Scarabus, so the bar is set pretty high.

More shots to come in the next couple of days with some of the alternate parts in place, but for today here are a few front and rear shots of Scarabus in his basic form, along with one of his little Time Keeper buddies sporting his new Time Keeper War Armor!

Four Horsemen Announce More Details on Toypocalypse and Exclusive Scarabus Set

Limited to only 200 sets, the ultra-exclusive set of two Scarabus figures (Scarabi?), dubbed the “Dark and Light Talisman” set, will be available at Toypocalypse and then on storehorsemen.com. I think the $100 price tag will give some collectors pause, and I wonder just how many people who pick this up will actually open them up.

Scarabus figures to be debuted and sold in celebration of the Toypocalypse: A Four Horsemen Retrospective gallery show!

If you’ve been following the news surrounding the Four Horsemens first gallery show, Toypocalypse, then you probably know that they’re going to be selling black and white versions of their character Scarabus at the event.

Even though the Four Horsemen expect these special edition sets to sell out quickly, you’re not going to be completely out of luck if you cant make it to the show!

The Dark Talisman Scarabus & Light Talisman Scarabus figure sets will be available at the Toypocalypse show at the TT Underground Gallery, beginning the evening of February 11th, for $100.00 per set and will be limited to only 100 sets for sale at TT Underground!

Then, the following week – to celebrate the closing of Toypocalypse – beginning at 9:00pm EST, on February 18th, the Four Horsemen will begin selling another 100 sets of Dark Talisman Scarabus & Light Talisman Scarabus through their online retail outlet, Store Horsemen, also priced at $100.00 per set plus shipping. These sets will be virtually the same as the sets that are to be sold at the Toypocalypse event, with a slight, albeit significant, packaging alteration to be unveiled at a later date.

Fantastic Exclusive Gothitropolis Scarabus 2-Up Recap

I hadn’t realized it, but the Four Horsemen have completed another round of Scary Shots, so it’s time for another recap – this time around they showed us the painted 2-ups for each of the variants, including the limited variants that will be available next month at their Toypocalypse show.

Looking at all of them, I’m having a hard time picking a favorite color scheme. I don’t have the space to get them all, so I may have to choose based on “theme” – right now I’m thinking about sticking to the ones that are more aligned with the Egyptian theme, meaning Scarabus, Anubos, Horos, and Thothos.
