Toy Fair 2012 – Hasbro Transforming From Toys to Entertainment

Hasbro held its Fan Media Day yesterday afternoon, inviting over one hundred folks from the various online blogs, fan sites, news, and communities that are fans of their collector-oriented brands – GI JOE, Star Wars, Transformers, and Marvel. I’ll be posting pictures from their Toy Fair showroom later this morning and over the course of the next few days, but wanted to touch upon the central theme from the event’s presentations – Hasbro is becoming an entertainment company, and the toys follow the entertainment.

CustomCon 30 – Day Four

Welcome to CustomCon 30, the fifth installment to be hosted by TheFwoosh.com and ActionFigurePics.com!

What is CustomCon?

CustomCon is a special presentation of new custom toy creations by customizers around the globe. Ten years in the running, it’s still going strong. Inspired by the presentations of new product by legitimate manufacturers at Toy Fair and other trade shows, CustomCon is a “fake” convention, whereby customizers present their latest creations and recipes as if unveiling a new line of real toys to retailers. It’s always a lot of fun, for both the viewers and the participants.

If this is your first exposure to a CustomCon, click here to see what’s been offered over the past 29 CustomCons.

And then there’s the lost Indiana Jones exclusives, packaging up the last wave of figures (plus a few more) that never made it to retail. Hasbro has a lot more exclusives, but that AOTS airtime isn’t easy to get. We’ll have to cover those in person at SDCC.
