San Diego Comic Con 2011 – Hasbro Exclusive GI Joe and Transformers Press Pics

Why share the Hasbro GI Joe and Transformers exclusives for SDCC in one post?

Because the arguably coolest exclusive from Hasbro this year features the crossover Transformers Skystriker with GI Joe’s (well, Cobra’s, actually) Cobra Commander.

This exclusive harkens back to the four issue limited series, G.I. Joe and the Transformers, from way back in 1987. It shares the same title logo, and is aptly numbered as Issue 5.

Also available at SDCC – Zarana from the Dreadnoks in two variations, as well as Optimus Prime in “Ultimate” and “Zero” incarnations.

Toy Fair 2011 – Hasbro GI Joe Report (and Indiana Jones special)

Unfortunately, Joe fans, it sounds like the GI Joe brand is tightening up a little in 2011. The official word is that the line will be more “focused” – my personal take on this is that the Pursuit of Cobra lineup didn’t revive the line enough after the the Rise of Cobra movie figures took a beating at retail.

There is good news on the horizon, though. The GI Joe Renegades show on the Hub has launched, and I think Hasbro has made a good decision that the Renegades figures, which will ship this fall as part of the main line with art from the show to distinguish it, are intended to fit in with the rest of the line. Renegades figures will have deco that matches the show’s color palette, but will leverage the existing Joe tooling with some new Renegades parts.

Welcome 2011!!! First up for a pic review this year is one real nice figure from the G.I. Joe: Pursuit of Cobra line — 2011 Wave 1 Snake Eyes! We’ve seen this figure on display at 2010’s Comic Con, and it quickly became one of my most anticipated figures from this line. It looked like it would surpass the 25th Anniversary Snake Eyes that we had a couple of years ago, let’s find out if it did!

Happy New Year! AFP’s Best of 2010

As we kick off the new year, I asked the guys to make their picks for for best [insert anything toy-related] for 2010. I wasn’t sure, since we just picked our “most thankful for” figures a few weeks ago at Thanksgiving, if we’d have much to add. Turns out there was plenty that impressed us above and beyond our Thanksgiving picks.

I’ll get us started.

Best of 2010 - Iron Man 2 - Iron Monger

Ron’s pick – Hasbro Iron Man 2 – Iron Monger

I don’t want to get typecast, because I picked the Marvel Legends Iron Man as one of Fwoosh’s Best of 2009. But this year, I think that the Iron Man 2 line from Hasbro, in particular the Comic series, went a long way in winning over fans who were missing their 6-inch Legends to the 4-inch scale.

The line has some really great sculpts, decent enough paint apps, and some fantastic articulation at that size. And, of course, it brought us this awesome Iron Monger – the huge, classic, comic-based blue version that I never thought we’d get, since the movie-based Iron Monger lined shelves for a while.

There were lots of Hasbro Iron Man news and reviews this year, but one of my favorite posts was highlighting this custom Iron Man armory by Thor-El.
