STGCC 2013: Hot Toys Marvel, DC, Terminator, and G.I. JOE

STGCC 2013 Hot Toys 01

Our good friend Jedd is at the Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention, and has sent us in this update from the Hot Toys booth. He writes:

Here are some photos of this year’s Marvel-heavy Hot Toys display, including three dioramas: one of the Avengers eating their shawarma, one of Odin banishing Thor to Earth as Loki looks on, and Tony Stark in his workshop, putting together the latest “mark” of his suit of armour. There was also a display employing the use of holographic projection technology.

With that one of a kind Bruce Banner, it’ll be tough to recreate that shawarma scene – unless Hot Toys has plans for the puny human. Jedd also sent in pics of the Hot Toys DC, Terminator, and G.I. JOE figures.

STGCC 2013: Preview Pics of Play Imaginative, Hot Toys, and Transformers by Jedd

STGCC 2013 Preview 1

Our good friend Jedd was at the Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention for their preview day, and sent in these pictures. He writes in:

Today was preview day for STGCC and I managed to get some pictures. I have a couple of pictures of Play Imaginative’s Iron Man stuff, including the 6 inch scale Hammer drones. The Hot Toys Exclusives at the convention are: Joe Colton from GI JOE Retaliation, The Iron Man “Midas” Armour, Evil Superman from Superman III, and “Star-Spangled Man” Captain America. There’s also a Metroplex Transformer that is being brought in by The Falcon’s Hangar store.

Thanks a bunch, Jedd!

Sideshow Opens Pre-Orders for G.I. JOE Storm Shadow v2 Exclusive

Sideshow G.I. JOE Storm Shadow v2 1

Sideshow recently upgraded its G.I. JOE Snake Eyes figure, so it’s no surprise that the deadly COBRA assassin would follow. Pre-orders for the COBRA 1/6 scale Storm Shadow v2 (Sideshow exclusive) are now open, with an expected delivery in February next year. I don’t know how Storm Shadow would feel about being cheaper than Snake Eyes, as he always had that inferiority complex to deal with – he’s up for $179.99 while Snake Eyes is $199.99 (and in stock now).

Storm Shadow comes with a bunch of ninja gear, including a compound bow, katana, shuriken, and tonfas. The Sideshow exclusive version also comes with a COBRA head katana. It’s the same price as the regular version, so I’m not sure why anyone would not prefer it during pre-orders. When they’re out of stock, I’d understand it, but for now, go for the exclusive.

Sideshow Lists Exclusive Hot Toys Marvel and G.I. JOE Figures for Pre-Order

As the official distributor for Hot Toys in the US, Sideshow has access to exclusive figures and accessories that other retailers might not be able to carry. They’ve just listed two figures from Hot Toys’ “Toy Fairs” exclusives (figures that were shown and in some cases made available to order at various toy shows around the world) and two Iron Man 3 figures that each come with an exclusive accessory.

I have not yet seen Sideshow list the “evil” Superman figure from Superman III that Hot Toys had revealed with Star Spangled Cap and Joe Colton.

SDCC 2013: Hot Toys at the Sideshow Collectibles Booth

Hot Toys (24 of 60)

I had been wanting to get to the Sideshow booth to check out the Hot Toys displays – it’s always one of the highlights of SDCC for me. I got my chance yesterday afternoon – and would have had an Instapics post up sooner, if it wasn’t for the massive congestion in the cellular network. All afternoon, a lot of folks in the San Diego Convention Center were having trouble making calls and sending texts, not to mention uploading pictures to the AFPRon Instagram account. 😀

Despite frustrations trying to keep connected, the Hot Toys showing did not disappoint. As you might expect, there was a ton of Avengers and Iron Man figures on display, but when you add in Robocop, G.I. JOE, Lone Ranger, and the growing DC licenses, there was something good for everybody.
