Marvel Universe 2011 Wave 1 Carded Pics

At the end of 2009, because Hasbro’s Marvel Universe line had performed so well, we got the first series of 2010 . It’s the same this year – the first series of MU from 2011 is on shelves now – I picked these up between Toys R Us and Target.

For those of you who are wondering who the cardback artist is for 2011 – Dave Vonner told us that it was none other than Olivier Coipel. It’s too bad the modern version of Thor came out this year – it’d be nice to have a Thor cardback in Marvel Universe by Coipel.

Also, notice the Mutant Detected tag on Captain Marvel’s cardback? That must be a nod to the upcoming Masterworks Sentinel.

Star Wars Vintage Collection Return of the Jedi

I only have a handful of Star Wars figures, but Hasbro has been doing a great job lately with these figs that I had to pick up some from the Return of the Jedi wave. What drew me in was the added articulation that Jedi Knight Luke had. I wanted to check him out and ended up getting a Gamorrean Guard, Admiral Ackbar and R2D2 also! Onto the pics!

Black Friday Action Figure Deals for the Armchair Shopper

A few years ago I got myself hyped up enough to go hit a Wal-Mart on Black Friday – and the closest one is about 40 minutes away. I didn’t have a plan or anything specific I was looking for, so it wasn’t a great use of my time. So even though I no longer venture out on these cold Black Fridays, that doesn’t stop me from looking for great toy deals online.

Happy Thanksgiving! AFP’s Thanksgiving Action Figure Picks

While the guys have many other things for which to be thankful, for our Thanksgiving post I asked them to share some thoughts on a figure or set of figures that come to mind. We’ll start with Sandman, who decided he would go big or go home.

My Thanksgiving action figure pick is the Big G himself, Hasbro’s Marvel Masterworks Galactus! Why am I thankful for getting this figure? Well, it is quite rare these days that we get a 19-inch, fully articulated, nicely sculpted, giant action figure like Galactus. Just look at the heights of the DC Universe Classics Collect and Connect figures and even Tytus of the Masters of the Universe Classics line, they don’t even come close to his height. His retail price of $50, in my opinion, is fairly reasonable. He looks great with my Marvel Legends AND  he looks even better with my Marvel Universe figures! I look forward to being thankful to Hasbro for some Sentinels next year and hopefully some nice lookin’ Marvel Legends in 2012!
