In Toyfare magazine two months ago, we got some looks at the Hasbro Marvel Universe exclusives for San Diego Comic-Con. With a week to go before the big show, Hasbro’s sent us some big pics of all of their exclusives. For those of you not going to be there, all of the items, with the exception of the Star Wars exclusive, are said to be available on HasbroToyShop.com after the convention.

Toyfare 157 to Reveal New Hasbro Marvel Universe and Mattel DCUC, Ghostbusters, and MOTUC Figures

Toyfare 157 leads into San Diego Comic-Con, and it’s due to hit news stands next week. It will feature new figures from Hasbro and Mattel, and thanks to a subscriber who got his issue early, we’ve got the rundown for you.

Hasbro Marvel Universe

The fifth and sixth series of Marvel Universe for 2010 have been revealed by online retailers who posted pre-orders, but you’ll get some nice closeup pics of some of them in Toyfare. In series 5, you’ve got a Team X Wolverine who looks like a revisit to the 90’s Toy Biz Spy Wolverine, a classic Mystique, and Madrox the Multiple Man. Madrox is sporting his duds from the Ultimate Universe, but without his trenchcoat.

From series 6, there’s Hawkeye (Bullseye, spoiler!) from the Dark Avengers, a classic Constrictor, and Thanos. It looks like Thanos is not wearing the Infinity Gauntlet.

BotCon 2010 Pics from Hasbro

BotCon 2010 18.jpg

Hasbro was kind enough to send us pictures from BotCon 2010, held over the past weekend in Orlando, Florida. They kicked off the Transformers Hall of Fame, with four inductees including Peter Cullen, who provides the voice of Optimus Prime both in the current movies and in the original animated series.

The Hall of Fame also included five Transformers. Dinobot beat out Soundwave, Grimlock, Jazz, and Shockwave in a Fan’s Choice Poll to join Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream in the Transformers Hall of Fame’s inaugural class.

Toy Wars – a Star Wars Recreation with Toys by Sillof

Are you a fan of Star Wars and action figures? Then Toy Wars may just be your kind of movie. Sillof, who is widely known for his themed custom action figure creations, like the Gaslight Legion of Doom, has published the first part of his remake of Star Wars: a New Hope.

What makes it special? Toy Wars is filmed entirely with Sillof’s 3.75-inch scaled custom figures and dioramas. While I found myself missing the spoken words, I was amazed at the different set pieces that Sillof created.

Hasbro Marvel Universe Colossus, Juggernaut and A.I.M. Soldier

DSCN6499.JPG

A couple of weeks ago, HasbroToyShop.com started selling their Marvel Universe Wave 8 figures online, it was a quick sellout, and I missed it. I was really looking forward to this wave, as some of the figures included in this wave have some nice, unique sculpts and upgraded articulation. So as soon as they re-listed the figures on the site, I didn’t hesitate to pick these guys up. I managed to pick up Juggernaut, the A.I.M. Soldier, and Colossus, which are the figures I was most excited about (the other figures of this wave are Archangel, Havok and Shadowcat). So what was all my excitement about? Let’s find out!
