LEGO Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine

Lego Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine (1 of 14)

If you were alive in the 80s, then you’re probably a fan of Back to the Future. I definitely am, and I’ve been waiting for a long time for a Back to the Future fix for my toy habit. There’ve been close calls before – Diamond Select Toys has put out both a line of BTTF Minimates and 1:15 scale DeLoreans for the trilogy – very tempting. And Mattel acquired the license a couple years back, but have only managed to put out a somewhat disappointing Hover Board, at least according to many diehard fans who ponied up the big bucks for it.

When I learned about the LEGO Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine, which was produced as part of its fan-created CUUSOO, I could resist no longer. I had to have it.

Impulse Buy: LEGO Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine

BTTF2

When my action figure bug kicked in, I reluctantly gave up LEGO. But I’ve loved LEGOs since I was a kid, and I often stare at them longingly in the aisles when I’m on yet another fruitless toy run.

But the Time Machine from Back to the Future? With Marty McFly and Doc Brown mini-figures? Maybe it’s the lack of action figures that I had always hoped Mattel would make when they acquired the license. Maybe it’s the longing I’ve had for the Diamond Select Toys DeLoreans, or the BTTF Minimates that I denied myself a few years back. All that pent-up demand – this I could not resist.

This set is from the LEGO CUUSOO program – CUUSOO is not a LEGO acronym – it’s a phonetic spelling for the Japanese word that means “wish.” This program allows people to submit their proposals for LEGO products. If they get enough support from the CUUSOO community, then LEGO will evaluate the proposal to become official products. This is the fourth LEGO product to come out of CUUSOO.

You can get the DeLorean Time Machine at the Shop Lego website for $34.99. Don’t fight it – it’s your density.

I Can’t Believe San Diego Comic-Con is Almost Here!

I got this notice from Warner Bros. about their bags for Comic-Con. When you are picking up loot, whether it’s something you’re buying or promotional swag a booth babe is handing to you, you need someplace to put it as you walk the floor. You would not believe what a life-saver it is to get your hands on these huge backpack bags that they hand out as you enter the San Diego Convention Center.

Anyways, I am woefully unprepared for SDCC. I am wrapping up a family reunion this week – we try to get together at least once a year, usually during summer when all my nieces and nephews are out of school – and almost as soon as I get home, it’s back to the road for San Diego Comic-Con.

As usual, we’ll be providing updates directly from the show floor and during the evenings when we’re recuperating in our hotel rooms. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to our Youtube channel. And for updates as they’re happening, be sure to follow my AFPRon Instagram account.

Updates may be light at the start of next week, but it’ll pick up on Wednesday!

Free LEGO Iron Man vs Fighting Drone Set with $50 Purchase

Free LEGO Iron Man vs Fighting Drone

Iron Man is still going strong in theaters, though I expect Star Trek will take over the top spot this weekend. LEGO has the Marvel (and DC) license, but Star Trek is with Hasbro in the KRE-O building set brand – so LEGO is riding shotgun with this Iron Man promotion for a free set. The LEGO Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone is a $4.99 set, and you don’t necessarily have to buy Marvel LEGOs to get it.

For example, you might go nuts over these Lone Ranger LEGO setscowboys, Indians, and trains? That’s LEGO heaven, Kemosabe.

FREE Exclusive, Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone with purchases of $50 or more! Valid. 5.16.13 – 5.31.13

  • FREE Iron Man™ vs. Fighting Drone set with any purchase of $50 or more
  • Valid: June 16-31st or while supplies last
  • No Code Required

May the Fourth Be With You – LEGO Star Wars Deals this Weekend Only, Plus the Arrival of New Red Five X-Wing

Speaking of LEGO, we just got word that they’re running deals on LEGO Star Wars products all weekend in honor of Star Wars Day. For example, the LEGO Star Wars B-Wing will be half off, and many other items will be 10 – 20% off. LEGO is also using May the Fourth to launch its newest exclusive, the LEGO Star Wars Red Five X-Wing. I had the original Ultimate Collector Series X-Wing way back when LEGO first launched the Star Wars brand – that thing was massive, a lot of fun to build, and the new one looks to add new details over the original (here’s a link to a used LEGO UCS X-Wing with a crazy price).
